We speak to the Kaiser Chiefs ahead of their gig at Temple Newsam

00:00We are at Temple Newsome where you'll be playing a massive headline show in a

00:05couple of weeks. How does it feel to sort of be here on the ground now?

00:10It feels extremely exciting, looking forward to the stage going up, looking

00:14forward to the weather, getting slightly better, hopefully May 1st. It's gonna be,

00:19I've looked at the very long-range forecast, it's gonna be glorious sunshine,

00:22all day, no wind, just but just not too hot so you're worried about sunburn.

00:28It's just that exact right temperature. It's that weird weather where it's specific to

00:33each individual person. So when someone likes it 28, for them it's 28, it's weird.

00:39Perfect weather. How's preparations coming along?

00:43We're doing good. We just yesterday played a load of songs.

00:47Endurance practice. It was like a marathon session, yeah? I did distance training so

00:54that was, played loads of songs. Had someone shouting at us.

00:59Just didn't, you know, when Peter looked like he was flagging a bit, it was like,

01:03come on, get up, get up. Basically it was like band bootcamp, yeah?

01:07Prepare for the audience and all that and all that. What do you think will be your

01:10sort of own personal highlights?

01:14My highlight. I think the highlight's gonna be, Happy Dix Riot, I think obviously it will

01:19be special in Leeds, as it always is, depending on some other things that hopefully will happen

01:24in the next couple of weeks. I think the end, in a nice way, the end. Coming off, obviously,

01:32these things that take a long time, but you know, coming for a long time when you sort

01:35of get off and then hopefully everyone's had a great time. We can just have a nice beer

01:40and relax, that'll be great. Any other support acts that, you know, you can't miss?

01:47Well, you've got to see all of them, yeah. Get down here early, enjoy the day. It's kind

01:51of like, we've put together this sort of festival, you know, like, it's a celebration of employment,

01:56it's kind of like our own festival, with loads of bands that we've toured with over the

02:01years, a lot of them doing their sort of debut or big records. So yeah, get down for the

02:06whole thing, because we won't miss anything really. Yeah, it tells a story. It's like going

02:10to the cinema, you wouldn't just go for the last 20 minutes.
