00:01I'm always up for a good scam story here, because I just sort of feel like at this point

00:06we got to do a better job taking care of our patrons and our people out there.

00:10I mean, the latest one here in the States, as you know, Pat, is this one about where

00:15you're getting a text about paying parking tickets or paying highway parking.

00:18I mean, I get these all the time, then I'm like, this does not apply to me.

00:23So now there's one going on in Arizona, which we got to keep an eye on.

00:26I'm glad we're bringing this up here on the show.

00:28And it looks like there are some different websites that are trying to pose that they

00:31are online casinos by using the logos and extensions and links that you can come bet

00:37with them.

00:38And this is actually not true.

00:41So those people who are watching us today in Arizona or close in that region, listen

00:45to Pat.

00:46He's going to tell us more.

00:47Yeah, this was interesting.

00:48It was on Monday.

00:49I got this email from the Arizona Department of Gaming sending out a PSA about imitation

00:52casinos or for consumers to be wary of companies posing as casinos.

00:58And based on everything we've kind of been talking about and seeing with these sweepstakes

01:03bands and such that do, you know, they offer free to play, but they also offer, you know,

01:08the switch over to allow for, you know, kind of real money gambling.

01:13You know, we thought maybe it would be that.

01:16But I emailed them.

01:17Turns out instead of what it is, is imitation casinos, literally imitating casinos that

01:23are licensed in Arizona.

01:26Now, the thing is, is online casinos are not legal in Arizona and these are not licensed

01:32operators.

01:33They are just simply imitating.

01:34Go check out Legal Sports Report in the story for kind of the things that the Arizona Department

01:38of Gambling laid out in terms of things to look out for, including maybe a dot net URL

01:44instead of a dot com, maybe a misspelling in one of the names.

01:48And it turns out this is certainly something not just in Arizona.

01:53There was news reports from local Kansas news stations that were saying similar things about

01:59the Kansas Star Casino and fake websites around there.

02:02It's been in Canada, Washington tribes up in Washington state are kind of fighting the

02:07similar thing.

02:08And these are not regulated, licensed online casinos.

02:10They're simply imitating it.

02:12They might not even offer real gambling.

02:14They might just take deposits and then say, see you later.

02:18So that's where this fear is.

02:20It's certainly a consumer fraud and consumer scam situation going on.

02:24So that's something Arizona Department of Gambling is looking at and warning consumers

02:28about.

02:29I would not be surprised if more regulators kind of come out and do this.

02:33And to the sweepstakes point, the Arizona Department of Gaming also pointed me to a

02:37release that we wrote about in January that they did also kind of say, play responsibly

02:43online. Remember, online sports betting is the only way to legally wager in Arizona.

02:49And they have a whole sweepstakes page that only free to play sweepstakes games are

02:53allowed. And so that was kind of the interesting dichotomy there from the Arizona

02:58Department of Gaming.
