00:00Remember the 24 hours ago. I was telling you about Sonia Gandhi
00:03Charging at the government at the center over the education policy even though she maintained a silence on the three-language issue now the education minister
00:12Countering Sonia Gandhi on her remark on the NEP
00:15Pradhan is calling the education policy under UPA as corrupt
00:20Public universities lagged funding under the Congress rules says Dharmendra Pradhan the education minister
00:26He adds that there's been a selective amnesia
00:28And of course that's more like a jibe towards Sonia Gandhi Sonia Gandhi had basically said there is three C's
00:36centralization
00:37commercialization
00:38Communalization of the education system that they've ignored the education and the different kinds of education that happens of the youth
00:46their
00:47Opportunities lack of dialogue and a tendency to bully is what she had said. Here's what Dharmendra Pradhan saying about it
00:56So
00:58Dharmendra Pradhan basically stating that it's a
01:01selective amnesia
01:03Public universities didn't even have proper funding under the UPA regime and now they are calling the UPA the
01:10NDA policy of the new education the national education policy changes as
01:15The three C's I want to bring in my colleague Piyush Mishra for the latest on that Piyush
01:20Good morning. So like we were expecting Dharmendra Pradhan has given out a response. Tell me more about his comment
01:26Well, that's right
01:27Union Education Minister Pooja Dharmendra Pradhan has now
01:30Responded back to Sonia Gandhi where he has drawn the comparison between the earlier policy and what is about the new education policy
01:38you would remember that a couple of days back Sonia Gandhi had it out at the Modi government saying that the
01:43Modi government is trying to you know, bring three C's
01:47They're working on three C's of communalization centralization and commercialization as far as the education policy is concerned
01:54Dharmendra Pradhan has in an article has explained what was the earlier policy like. Pradhan has said that earlier corruption and a governance
02:02Deceit were the main features of the country's education policy. He has also said that
02:08the University Grant Commission and other institutions they have become instruments of control rather than
02:15the appointments to leadership in universities were based on political loyalties and now he has also
02:22Said that what is about the new education policy
02:25He is the thing that the NEP has restored primacy to all Indian languages and knowledge of traditions overcoming the decades of English
02:33first policies though Indian knowledge system initiative over 8,000 higher education institutions have adopted
02:40ICS curriculum
02:41So there are multiple things on which a Dharmendra Pradhan has focused on but we can certainly expect the Congress also to react on this
02:47I remember that a lot of politics is going on. DMK was saying that we are not willing to accept new education policy on the
02:53Same line. Sonia Gandhi had also written a detailed article though
02:57She had not spoken out about the language war, but this is certainly going to stir another war
03:03So an expected remark that's coming from Dharmendra Pradhan
03:06But he's also thrown a jive of selective amnesia at Sonia Gandhi and the UPA government
03:11Saying we all remember how the education policy and the structure was during the UPA tenure. Thank you very much
03:17For now Piyush, stay on with me. I have more news coming in. I want you on that as well
03:38So the big story this morning will be from the Parliament. Modi government finally set a table
03:44The Vakf Amendment Bill. Jagdambika Pal, Anurag Thakur will be the speakers for the BJP in the Lok Sabha
03:52We are told also Teja Sri Surya
03:55And Ravi Shankar Prasad will be the BJP speakers as well
04:00For the Vakf. Sudhanshu Trivedi will lead in the Rajya Sabha for the Bharatiya Janata Party
04:06So that's a big news. Piyush, I immediately bring you in but this is going to be important. Remember Modi government
04:13Is going to what it says is
04:16Is an ambitious bill, but also it's important according to the government. They believe it will set a certain
04:23Equality, it will set a certain transparency
04:26Piyush joins me now. Piyush, go ahead
04:28Tell me about the BJP list set to speak in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha for the Vakf Amendment Bill
04:42The list of speakers have already been decided which includes the likes of Nishikant Juhe, Jagdambika Pal, Anurag Thakur, Abhishek Gangopadhyay, Kamalji Sarawar, Teja Sri Surya, Ravi Shankar Prasad
04:54They are going to speak in Lok Sabha and when it comes in Rajya Sabha, Sudhanshu Trivedi, Radha Mohana Sagarwan, Brijlal, Medha Kulkarni, Bhagwat Karad
05:02They are the ones who are going to speak in Rajya Sabha. So today in Lok Sabha the discussion on Vakf Amendment Bill will go on for
05:09Eight hours and after that today itself we are expecting that the bill is going to pass, the government is going to reply
05:17The bill is going to be tabled by
05:19Syrian DigiDoom, Union Minority Affairs Minister
05:22After that we can expect other leaders from the opposition political parties also to speak on this and also detailed discussion
05:29Like government has assured that they want to have clause by clause discussion
05:33They will respond to each and every argument that will be raised by the opposition and after the detailed discussion
05:38We can expect the bill to be passed today itself and tomorrow most likely it will be brought in Rajya Sabha
05:44Stay on with me Piyush because this is remember important. So Jagdambika Pal, senior leader
05:50Anurag Thakur will be speaking in the BJP, so will be Teja Sri Surya, Ravi Shankar Prasad
05:55But also Sudhanshu Trivedi will be speaking in the Rajya Sabha for the Bharatiya Janata Party
06:01So the stage is set
06:03It's going to be a mega showdown
06:05Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju will table the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha by afternoon
06:10He will then open the debate in the lower house of the Parliament
06:14Total eight hours has been allotted for the Waqf debate
06:18Speakers from both sides will get a chance which means all of them will be very clear on what they want to
06:24Point by point mention on floor of the halls according to our sources Union Home Minister likely will also intervene during the debate
06:31Remember it's all about not just the bill
06:34But how also it went to the JPC
06:36JPC panel on Waqf adopted 14 changes in the original bill after stormy discussions a state government
06:43Appointed officer will decide if the property is Waqf other big change is a composition of the Waqf board
06:48Two non-muslim members will still be mandated to be a part of the board and also now it's mandatory to have a member in
06:55The board who had definitely has a knowledge about Muslim law Muslim jurisprudence and that's going to be very important
07:02So these are some of the changes after the JPC has taken one of the reasons that possibly Jagdambika Pal is also speaking
07:09Let's listen in now to what our leaders saying ahead of the tabling of the bill
07:15Government is very
07:17honestly and keenly looking forward to have a proper discussion on Waqf Amendment Bill and
07:24Every member of the Parliament
07:27Those who represent different political parties must get sufficient time and proper time
07:35to discuss and speak on the matter on the subject
08:24If they don't want to do politics, they don't want to do politics of discrimination, then this bill can't be better for poor or non-Muslims
08:32And support them for this
08:34Every good deed
08:36is opposed
08:40Similarly, this is happening on Waqf Amendment Bill
08:46But I would like to ask those who are doing this, if they have done any good deed through Waqf Amendment Bill
08:55that is of welfare
08:57Leave it
08:59Leave everything about the society, if they have done any good deed for the Muslim community
09:08These are the pits of personal selfishness
09:12These are the pits of personal selfishness
09:14These are the pits of personal selfishness
09:16for a few people
09:18This is a means of forcibly occupying any government property
09:23And reform is the demand of this time
09:27Every reform is opposed
09:29But
09:31According to the country, time and situation, we should be ready for such reforms
09:36And I think
09:39that the Muslim community will benefit from this
09:42And because of this, many times the legal system is in trouble
09:47People will get freedom from that too
09:49So much consultation has been done
09:51And for opposition
09:53Opposition means to oppose
09:55It's not like that
09:57In this,
09:59all the groups, all the people
10:01All those who follow religion
10:03All the people
10:05How can it be beneficial
10:07By thinking like this
10:09There is a lot of reform in this
10:11In this, no one's
10:13property
10:15No one's temple, mosque
10:17No one is occupying
10:19It is a reform
10:21And for that reform, always Congress
10:23And Congress's ecosystem party is opposed
10:32India allies to back the Waqf Bill in the Parliament
10:36Now it appears that after the TDP-JDU allies
10:39JDS has decided to back the Waqf Amendment Bill
10:43The JDS chief, H.G. Kumaraswamy will also be present during the Waqf debate
10:48So India at least making clear
10:50That on its part, it will have all of its alliance partners
10:54On one stage
10:56JDS is backing the government on the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Parliament
11:00The Janata Dal United
11:02Even though remember, JDU gave a certain cautionary statement
11:05Then there is the Lok Jan Shakti Party
11:07Chirag Paswan, all other alliance partners
11:09Including Eknath Lindh's position
11:11They led Shiv Sena
11:13So these are going to be, remember, important factors right now
11:15For the NDA
11:17Because we have the numbers that we are looking at
11:19It's tagged with the NDA
11:21They have the majority in the Lok Sabha
11:23Also in the Rajya Sabha
11:25But remember, Lok Sabha, it eventually will be the number game
11:27Because it has to be passed first
11:29In the lower house of the Parliament
11:31We are putting on your screens as well
11:34About the parties that are against
11:36Which are primarily from the opposition
11:38And the parties that are supporting
11:40Are also mainly the alliance partners
11:42Of the NDA
11:44Piyush Mishra continues to be with us on this
11:46Piyush, it will be the number game
11:48How confident is the NDA
11:50That they have the alliance partners
11:52At least on their side
11:54Before, of course, they try to convince
11:56The opposition parties
12:00The NDA is very confident
12:03In the past few days, the government leaders
12:05Have been in touch with various NDA partners
12:07Including JDU, LJP, TDP
12:09Though they had some sort of apprehensions
12:11In fact, they had raised these apprehensions
12:13During the Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting
12:15Also
12:17And what we are now told is that
12:19All the concerns of NDA partners
12:21Have now been addressed
12:23Yesterday, till late in the night
12:25The JDU and TDP were not very sure
12:27Of supporting it
12:29But yes, now what we are told
12:31Is that they have issued BIP to all their MPs
12:33And all the MPs of
12:35JDU, TDP, LJP
12:37Other alliance partners including
12:39JDS, HUM
12:41They all are unanimously going to support
12:43This bill when it is tabled today
12:45In Parliament
12:47So the government has the absolute majority
12:49And this bill is most likely
12:51To get passed from Lok Sabha
12:53And tomorrow, when Rajya Sabha
12:55Also is brought there
12:57The government has got good numbers
12:59To get the bill passed
13:30All BJP's top allies
13:32Have decided to back the bill
13:34According to the information accessed by India Today
13:36There have been recommendations though
13:38That have come in from alliance partners
13:40Like the Telugu Desam Party
13:42The Janata Dal United, Chirag Paswan's LJP as well
13:44And it has been incorporated
13:46By the JPC
13:48So for now, NDA leaders and alliance partners
13:50Are extending support
13:52Let's look at the numbers now
13:54Because eventually it is the numbers game in the Parliament
13:56This is the Lok Sabha
13:59India block, 238 MPs
14:01So even if all the NDA leaders
14:03Come together to vote
14:05In favour of the Waqf Amendment Bill
14:07That will be tabled, it is all clear
14:09However, remember they will want as many numbers
14:11As possible to appear
14:13That they have absolute majority
14:15Now the government needs a simple majority
14:17To pass the amendment of the lower house
14:19They appear to have that with the mark
14:21They have the halfway mark is 271
14:23But can they possibly have
14:25From the opposition
14:27The numbers shift towards the NDA
14:57We have addressed all the issues
14:59In our meetings
15:01We have addressed all the concerns
15:03So I welcome this amendment
15:05And on behalf of our party
15:07On behalf of the Janata Dal United
15:09In support of this amendment
15:11And all our MPs
15:13They have been instructed
15:15By the HIP
15:17That they
15:192, 3 and 4
15:21Will be present this April
15:23And they will support the government
15:25Especially
15:27In support of the Waqf Amendment Bill
15:29They have been instructed
15:31To participate in the voting
15:33And to support the government
15:35This has been instructed
15:56There is Aam Aadmi Party
15:58Uddhav Sena
16:00All have been locked in a huddle
16:02They have been constantly strategizing
16:04Remember Rahul Gandhi said to hold a meeting
16:06First of all the opposition MPs in the Parliament
16:08Ahead of the session
16:10Now what is the Congress claiming
16:12They are saying this is anti-constitutional bill
16:14Trinamool Congress is accusing the BJP
16:16Of bulldozing the bill in the Parliament
16:18Then there is AI MIM Chief
16:20Asaduddin Owaise
16:22Who comes in strongly right now here
16:24And who pertains largely to the Muslim community
16:26Asaduddin Owaise says the bill
16:28Violates Muslims freedom of religion
16:30Meanwhile the India bloc
16:32Has unanimously decided to oppose
16:34Vote against the bill in the Parliament
16:54We will debate this
16:56And we all India Alliance
16:58Will participate tomorrow
17:24About the Waqf Amendment Bill
17:54What a Waqf property is
17:56Here is what it says
18:25As per Sharia law
18:27Once a land goes to Waqf
18:29It cannot be reversed
18:31Notably the land holdings
18:33The Waqf board's land holdings
18:35Have doubled since 2009
18:37So what is the history of the Waqf Act
18:39Well the Act was first passed by Parliament
18:41Back in 1954
18:43Subsequently it was repealed
18:45And a new Waqf Act was passed in 1995
18:47That essentially gave more powers
18:49To Waqf boards
18:51In 2013 the Act was further amended
18:54Again to give far reaching powers
18:56To the Waqf board to designate property
18:58As Waqf property
19:00So what does the Waqf board do
19:02Currently every state has a Waqf board
19:04Headed by a chairperson
19:06One or two nominees from the state government
19:08Muslim MLAs and MPs
19:10Muslim members of the State Bar Council
19:12And Islamic scholars
19:14The boards have the power to administer
19:16The property and take measures
19:18To recover and sanction any transfer
19:20Of immovable property of Waqf
19:22This can be by way of gift, sale, mortgage
19:24Or lease
19:25The Waqf board has also been granted
19:27Complete unrestrained power
19:29When it comes to registering properties
19:31And as a result of that
19:33Waqf boards currently have
19:35Almost 8,70,000
19:37Immovable properties
19:3916,173
19:41Movable properties
19:43And 3,56,031
19:45Estates in more than 8,00,000
19:47Acres of land
19:49And it's because of this that Prime Minister Modi
19:51Set his eyes on reforming this act
19:53And tweaking its powers
20:13So the government introduced the
20:15Waqf Amendment Bill
20:17And as expected this has triggered a big political fight
20:19Let's first recap for you
20:21What happened in August 2024
20:23When the bill was first introduced in Parliament
20:25This was the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024
20:27Which was introduced in the Lok Sabha
20:29On 8th August 2024
20:31And the very next day
20:33It was referred to a joint parliamentary committee
20:35With MPs from the ruling party
20:37And the opposition
20:49Justice has not been served
20:51To rectify it
20:53This bill has been introduced
20:55History will remember
20:57Who supported
20:59This bill
21:01And who opposed it
21:03History will remember
21:05So once the JPC report was out
21:07The cabinet approved
21:0914 amendments to the bill
21:11These amendments modify
21:13Several contentious provisions of the original bill
21:15The original 2024 bill
21:17Mandated that every property
21:19Dedicated to Waqf must be registered
21:21Within 6 months
21:23Now the JPC's amendment
21:25Is flexibility in that timeline
21:27And so the Waqf Tribunal can extend the deadline
21:29In some cases
21:31Another point
21:33One of the most controversial aspects
21:35Of the original 2024 August bill
21:37Was the enhanced role given to
21:39District collectors in determining
21:41Whether properties claimed as Waqf
21:43Were actually government properties
21:45Now the bill based on the JPC
21:47Recommendation has been tweaked
21:49So not collectors
21:51But a more senior designated government officer
21:53Chosen by the state government
21:55Will decide on properties
21:57The other big change is in the composition of the Waqf board
21:59The original 2024 bill
22:01Mandated for a non-Muslim
22:03Chief executive officer
22:05And at least two non-Muslim members
22:07To be appointed by the state government
22:09To essentially change the Waqf board's composition
22:11Of only having Muslim members
22:13Now the JPC has changed this aspect
22:15While two non-Muslim members
22:17Will still be mandated to be a part of the board
22:19It's also mandatory
22:21To have a member with knowledge
22:23Of Muslim law
22:25So these are the changes made to the bill
22:27Based on suggestions of the JPC
22:29But these are essentially partial concessions
22:31As the opposition claims
22:33That their suggested changes
22:35Haven't been made
22:37And certain parts of the bill
22:39Like two Muslim members of the Waqf to be women
22:41Survey of Waqf property by the government
22:43And essentially that just the Waqf board
22:45Can't declare what is Waqf property
22:47They have been retained
22:49As was in the August 2024 bill
22:51A dissent note was also added
22:53In the JPC report
22:55Which highlighted the issues that opposition
22:57Had with the bill as it is now
22:59Now the government
23:01Faces the Waqf bill test in parliament
23:03As opposition MPs have made their stand clear
23:05On this contentious reform
23:08Expect a full on showdown in the parliament
23:10But outside the parliament as well
23:12There is as much chorus growing
23:14All India Muslim Personal Law Board
23:16Has sent out a statement
23:18Appealing to what it says
23:20Are all secular political parties
23:22Including BJP's allies
23:24Members of parliament
23:26To not vote for the Waqf amendment bill
23:28To strongly oppose it
23:30To not vote in the favour
23:32Under any circumstances
23:34All India Muslim Personal Law Board
23:36Has led protests as well
23:38Some of the visuals on your screen
23:40They have been stating that
23:42No amendment should be coming
23:44To the Waqf sweeping arbitrary powers
23:46That the government wants to restrict
23:48Remember after the railways
23:50After the Indian armed forces
23:52It's the Waqf board that has
23:54Maximum land power in some way
23:56Has been able to spread across India
23:58With what according to the charges are
24:00Have been sweeping arbitrary powers
24:02And now there will be
24:04More transparency
24:06More structure to it
24:08Including non-Muslim members
24:10Who will be part of the panel here
24:12So that is going to be the big news coming in
24:14Remember All India Muslim Personal Law Board
24:16Doesn't have a stake in the parliament
24:18Where the discussion and the numbers are going to be
24:20However it is the surround sound
24:22The chorus, the protest
24:24That the Muslim Law Board
24:26Has been organising
24:28Has been in fact
24:30As you can see for example on your screen
24:32Has been going forth appealing
24:34To opposition parties
24:36Piyush Mishra joins me
24:38For the latest on that
24:40Piyush is primarily tracking what the government strategy is
24:42What the chorus against it is
24:44Piyush good morning
24:46Tell me here as you join me on the first up
24:48About what is
24:50All India Muslim Personal Law Board saying
24:52And how much significance do you think
24:54The Muslim Law Board's
24:56Statements can hold
24:58In a parliament discussion
25:00Well certainly the kind of points
25:02That are being raised by Muslim Personal Law Board
25:04We can expect the opposition political parties
25:06To raise the same thing
25:08Remember that in the past
25:10Many days we have seen Muslim Law Board
25:12You know coming on the streets
25:14Protesting against
25:16Proposed
25:18Will they are saying that the government
25:20Is trying to snatch away the land
25:22Of Muslims
25:24They want to regulate each and everything
25:26They want to control each and everything
25:28And after that we have seen
25:30Similar sort of things have been said by various
25:32Opposition political parties including
25:34Congress, Samarwadi Party and various others
25:36But the government is
25:38Time and again
25:40Of the view has said
25:42That we are here to discuss
25:44Each and every clause
25:46We are here to discuss each and everything
25:48If you have any objection come on the floor of the house
25:50We will respond to you
25:52If you have any issues to be raised
25:54Please come on the floor of the house
25:56But do not spread misinformation
25:58Nobody's land is going to be snatched
26:00Nothing is going to happen to any
26:02Muslim community
26:04In fact this entire bill is going to benefit
26:06A lot to the poor Muslim
26:08Community
26:10You know their lands will be
26:12Regulated
26:14There is no control which the government
26:16Is going to keep
26:18In fact there will be female members
26:20Who will be part of the work board
26:22And if there is any concern
26:24For certain designation
26:26A higher rank who will decide
26:28With regard to the disputed property
26:30Otherwise usually the Waqf would decide
26:32Or the tribunal that would decide
26:34Stay on with me Piyush keep tracking all the latest on that
26:36Very interesting so that is what the Muslim personal law board
26:38Has said I want to bring you
26:40What the other side usually
26:42What have been the complaints against
26:44The Waqf board has come in
26:46Let's take a look at the big breaking news coming in
26:55All India Muslim personal law board
26:57Has said everyone should
26:59Oppose the Waqf amendment bill
27:01However Kerala churches
27:03Big warning has come on the Waqf bill
27:05The Kerala church has said and this is after the
27:07Bishop council statement
27:09No member of parliament
27:11Should oppose the Waqf bill
27:13This is very important
27:15There have been a lot of complaints of
27:17Land grab, land usurping allegedly
27:19By the Waqf board coming in from
27:21Kerala, Karnataka even Tamil Nadu
27:23Now Kerala church has said
27:25Waqf bill
27:27Will stop the amendment bill
27:29Will stop the land grab
27:31That is happening
27:33The congress and the left must back the Waqf bill
27:35This is very important because in Kerala
27:37It is the congress and the left
27:39Primarily that have been stronger parties
27:41Compared to let's say the BJP
27:43The church here is saying
27:45The Waqf bill passage is a test for
27:47Seculars that's a big big statement
27:49Remember the Christian community
27:51The church holds significance
27:53When it comes to the state of Kerala
27:55My colleague Shibimol KG is joining me for the latest
27:57On that Shibimol good morning
27:59Tell me about what is this Kerala church
28:01Is it one organization
28:03One group because then it
28:05Adds on to what the Kerala bishop council
28:07Had said too
28:11Pooja this is one of the church
28:13But in fact the interesting part is that
28:15KCBC the Kerala Catholic bishop council
28:17The most prominent Christian organisation
28:19In the state has already
28:21Urged the Kerala MPs
28:23To extend their support
28:25To the Waqf amendment bill
28:27And not to oppose it
28:29But they have said that
28:31This bill is not against any community
28:33It will in fact solve the problem
28:35Of all the communities
28:37Whether it is a Muslim, Christian
28:39And a Hindu community
28:41Because there have been
28:43Cases in Kerala
28:45Where the Waqf board had issued notices
28:47And Muslim families also saying
28:49That the land belongs to Waqf
28:51What the church is trying to say here is that
28:53The whole issue of land grabbing
28:55Will be solved so everybody from Kerala
28:57Should support it
28:59All the MPs from Kerala should support it
29:01In fact it puts a lot of pressure on the Congress here
29:03Because you know the Christian community
29:05Is primarily their vote bank
29:07As far as the left is concerned
29:09They just have one MP in the Lok Sabha
29:11But as far as the Congress, the UDF is concerned
29:13They have 19 MPs out of the
29:1518 MPs out of the 20 in Lok Sabha
29:17Including 2 IUML MPs
29:19But a lot of pressure on the Congress
29:21The Congress and IUML was also
29:23Divided a bit on the
29:25Munambam Waqf land issue
29:27So all together it is going to put a lot of pressure
29:29This is very important
29:31What Shibi Mole is telling us right now
29:33That remember the Congress appears to be
29:35Currently united, they want to oppose it
29:37At least for
29:39Members of Parliament in other states
29:41But when it comes to Kerala
29:43It's the Kerala Church after the Bishop Council
29:45Saying support the Waqf Amendment Bill
29:47It will stop the land grab
29:49And the Congress may want to listen
29:51Or will have to listen
29:53To what the Christian community largely
29:55Or the Church here and the Council
29:57May have to say
29:59So it's kind of a dichotomy right now for the Congress and the left there
30:01Thank you very much Shibi Mole
30:03Keep tracking the latest but stay on with me
30:05Stay on with me because I have news coming in
30:07Let's take a look at that
30:09About mystery posters that have come in
30:11Mystery posters
30:21Mystery posters have emerged at Kerala's
30:23Congress Member of Parliament's office
30:25Who has put up these posters
30:27The poster is about
30:29The Waqf issue
30:31It's warning the Congress on the Waqf land grab
30:33The poster says
30:35Look at that
30:37It appears to be handwritten in the Malayalam language
30:39And it says
30:41Do not cheat Christians on the Waqf
30:43Do not inflict wound on the Christians
30:45This is very important
30:47Remember that the Congress
30:49Has called the bill with the India Block Alliance
30:51Partners as
30:53Unconstitutional
30:55As targeting the Constitution
30:57And the Muslim parties have said this is
30:59Infringing on Muslim rights
31:01But is there a certain group
31:03That believes even in Kerala
31:05Where Congress and the left are fairly strong
31:07Support the bill
31:09Don't oppose it
31:11Shibimol KG is joining me for the latest on that
31:13Shibimol tell me more about
31:15Where these posters were found
31:17What does it say precisely
31:19Because it definitely looks like
31:21Someone directly indirectly
31:23Is giving out a hint to the Congress
31:25And the left as well
31:29Pooja this is found
31:31These posters were found outside the office
31:33Of Congress MP I.B. Heeran
31:35In fact it is this whole
31:37Munambam issue
31:39Munambam has been the most talked about
31:41Most discussed Waqf land issue in Kerala
31:43Because it directly affects
31:45Almost 610 families living in that area
31:47Since the many decades
31:49So if it affects anybody from the Congress
31:51Directly it is going to be Ernakulam MP I.B. Heeran
31:53Because he is the MP
31:55From that district
31:57And also Ernakulam is one district
31:59Even when there was a left wave
32:01In 2021 assembly elections
32:03Ernakulam and Kottayam
32:05Were the two districts that stood
32:07Very strongly with the Congress
32:09Especially Ernakulam
32:11There is a strong Christian community
32:13In Ernakulam. The Congress traditionally
32:15Has a very strong hold in that old area
32:17So like I was mentioning
32:19If it puts any pressure on any party
32:21If the Waqf amendment bill today
32:23Puts any pressure on any party
32:25It is going to be the Congress
32:27And it is going to affect the Congress
32:29Because the lines here are very
32:32Okay
32:33Shivamol keep tracking the latest
32:35So is this any sort of
32:37Political pressure trying to
32:39Build up on the Congress specifically
32:41Because it has more number of members
32:43Of parliament representing Kerala
32:45And or is this something that the Congress
32:47Will stand very clear of
32:49They know what their strategy has been
32:51And they are set to oppose the Waqf amendment bill
32:53We will be tracking more on that
32:55Could there be a difference when the Kerala
32:57MPs also decide to vote
32:59In the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha
33:01But the stage is set. Expect a massive showdown
33:03In just a short while. At 12pm we are expecting
33:05The Waqf amendment bill to be tabled
33:07In the Lok Sabha. There are full on speakers
33:09List that have come in. Both from the Bharatiya Janata
33:11Party and the opposition leaders
33:13So I want to take you through first what the government is planning
33:15Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju
33:17Will table this Waqf amendment bill
33:19In the Lok Sabha. He will open the debate as well
33:21In the lower house of the parliament
33:23Total 8 hours have been designated
33:25For the Waqf debate
33:27Speakers from both sides will get opportunities
33:29So they have to be prepared. All guns blazing
33:31It's been, remember, a very
33:33Scathing, polarising issue
33:35As well for the government, for the ruling party
33:37The alliance and the opposition as well
33:39According to our sources, Union Home Minister
33:41Amit Shah likely will also intervene during the debate
33:43The JPC panel on the
33:45Waqf meanwhile, remember, has adopted
33:47According to our information, 14 changes
33:49Recommendations in the original bill
33:51After stormy discussions and negotiations
33:53What does it mean?
33:55On your screens. State government appointed
33:57Officer could decide now if the property
33:59Is of the Waqf or not in case there is a
34:01Dispute. Another big change is the
34:03Composition in the board. Two non-Muslim
34:05Members will still be mandated to be
34:07A part of the board. It will be mandatory to
34:09Have a member with knowledge of
34:11Muslim law. There will be women members
34:13As well unlike earlier. So these are some
34:15Of the changes that have happened that has led
34:17To more and more approval coming in from the
34:19NDA allies. Let's listen into what our
34:21Netas are saying ahead of the bill
34:23Government
34:25Is very
34:27Honestly and keenly
34:29Looking forward to have a
34:31Proper discussion on the Waqf amendment
34:33Bill. And every
34:35Member of the parliament
34:37Those who represent different
34:39Political parties must
34:41Get sufficient time
34:43And proper time
34:45To discuss and speak
34:47On the matter, on the subject
34:49I only say
34:51That if
34:53There is nothing to say in the bill
34:55Then don't make excuses
34:57Like the time of the
34:59Business advisory committee
35:01And make an excuse to
35:03Waqf. Don't do all this
35:05The time that has been decided
35:07Speak openly. We want to hear
35:09And we are ready to answer
35:11Every point, every section
35:13Close
35:15There has been so much consultation
35:17And for the opposition
35:19Opposition means
35:21It's not like that
35:23In this,
35:25All sects, all people
35:27All those who follow the religion
35:29All people
35:31How can it be beneficial
35:33Thinking like this
35:35There is a lot of reform
35:37In this, no one's
35:39Property
35:41Or anyone's temple
35:43Masjid, no one's
35:45It is a reform
35:47And for that reform
35:49Congress and
35:51The ecosystem party of Congress
35:53Opposes
36:17It can't be better
36:19For poor or backward Muslims
36:21And they need to be supported
36:47Held a meeting in which Rahul Gandhi
36:49Malik Arjun Khadke, Arvind Sawant
36:51Priyanka Chaturvedi
36:53And various other partners of India alliance
36:55Were present and in that meeting
36:57It has been decided that
36:59They will be present in house
37:01No opposition party is going to walk out
37:03They will raise their points and their concerns
37:05On the Waqf amendment bill
37:07And as far as the BJP strategy is concerned
37:09Leaders like
37:11Anurag Thakur, Nishikant Dubey
37:13Jagdambika Pal, remember that he is also
37:15The chairperson of JPC
37:17Which scrutinized the entire bill
37:19They are going to
37:21Anurag Thakur, Nishikant Dubey, Jagdambika Pal
37:23They are going to speak in Lok Sabha
37:25And as far as Rajya Sabha is concerned
37:27This entire
37:29Charge, this entire debate will be
37:31Led by Sudhanshu Trivedi, Brij Lal
37:33And various other leaders of BJP
37:35It is also important to highlight that
37:37Day before yesterday, the government
37:39Had briefed the BJP spokespersons
37:41And it was
37:43You know, told very categorically
37:45That there are some points
37:47Those opposition are trying to raise
37:49And they will certainly try to
37:51Mislead the people on that
37:53How the BJP has to counter, how the party has to counter
37:55How the NDA allies also have to
37:57Counter on that, a briefing was
37:59Done by the government, by Kiran Dejju
38:01To all the BJP spokespersons
38:03So today we can expect a fiery
38:05Day, BJP is certainly going to
38:07Stay on with me
38:09Because
38:11While remember, the political showdown is expected
38:13BJP, NDA have their own strategy
38:15Opposition leaders also
38:17Making their own plans on how they can best
38:19Oppose, even though the numbers are of course
38:21In favor of the
38:23NDA alliance, but here's what you need
38:25To know, remember a lot has been going around
38:27In circulation about the Waqf amendment bill
38:29And I want to break it down for you
38:31For example, what are myths and
38:33Facts, one of the biggest myths
38:35Going around right now is the Waqf properties
38:37Are now going to be revoked after this amendment
38:39Bill, our fact check team has
38:41Found out that legitimate Waqf properties
38:43Will remain protected, the bill clarifies
38:45Rules for better management
38:47Better transparency, the
38:49Government properties that are misclassified
38:51As Waqf, that will
38:53Be reviewed, immediate decisions are
38:55Not going to be taken, but there will be a review
38:57On this matter, another myth, let's take a look
38:59At that, that there will be no survey
39:01Of the Waqf properties
39:03As has been designated, our team
39:05Found out that there will be a survey
39:07Of survey role, of the survey
39:09Commissioner replaced with the district
39:11Collector, so district collector does get
39:13A fair share of power in this
39:15Case, but also there will be layers
39:17Of discussions and the disputes will be
39:19Resolved accordingly
39:21Then of course the big
39:23Reference point that had come in, a myth
39:25So to say, if non-Muslims
39:27Will become majority in the Waqf board
39:29They will now take over the Waqf board which
39:31Predominantly deals with the Muslim community
39:33The fact is that the bill
39:35Requires at least two members
39:37Right now to be from the non-Muslim
39:39Communities, it can be any community
39:41Majority members will still
39:43Be from the Islamic community
39:45In the Waqf board
39:47That will then take decisions accordingly
39:49Will the personal
39:51Land also be acquired
39:53Under the new bill, after the amendments
39:55That there could be personal land
39:57That could also come in, bill applies
39:59Only to properties
40:01That have been declared as Waqf
40:03No impact on personal properties
40:05That hasn't been
40:07Donated by the Waqf, so there has to be a
40:09Background if it is donated by the Waqf
40:11If it has a certain commercial
40:13Charitable work going on
40:15Then there would be a decision, otherwise personal properties
40:17Are out of this, another myth
40:19That's been going around, the bill will be
40:21Used to take over the Waqf properties
40:23And that is where the Muslim groups
40:25Have been claiming this will infringe
40:27On Muslim rights and Muslim bodies
40:29The fact is there is no seizure
40:31Of legitimately declared Waqf properties
40:33That will happen or can happen
40:35Again, another myth
40:37Will the status of the historic
40:39Waqf sites
40:41Especially those have a certain
40:43Have been a certain landmark
40:45Will that be affected
40:47No interference with religious
40:49Or historic character of the
40:51Waqf properties will be done
40:53After the amendment bill
40:55So these are some of the references we have for you
40:57Just to let you know when the debate
40:59Happens, this will be a part of the discussion
41:01We have some news coming in, let's take a look
41:11So the TTP chief, Chandrababu Naidu
41:13Has given an approval
41:15For the Waqf bill, this is big
41:17Big news coming in, remember a few days ago
41:19He was at an Eid event
41:21And he did make some statement
41:23It appeared he is not going to stand
41:25In favour of the Waqf amendment bill
41:27But according to our sources
41:29Final call has been taken
41:31After studying final details and terms
41:33This is big, remember
41:35TDP not coming in means also
41:37An approval coming in from one of the big southern states
41:39The government has accepted
41:41All the three demands
41:43Recommendations that had come in from the Telugu Desam party
41:45TDP therefore
41:47Has issued a whip
41:49To all its members of parliament
41:51To back the Waqf bill in the Lok Sabha
41:53And the Apur House of Department as well
41:55So I want to now take you to the Lok Sabha
41:57Where heated discussions will be accepted
41:59A three line whip has been issued by the BJP
42:01And its allies to their members of parliament
42:03They have to be present
42:05They have to be participating in the discussion
42:07All BJP top allies have decided
42:09For now according to our information
42:11To back the bill, that means the numbers
42:13Are staking in favour of the NDA alliance
42:15According to information accessed by India Today
42:17There were recommendations though
42:19That had come in from the alliance partners
42:21Telugu Desam party, Janata Dal United
42:23And Chirag Paswan's LJP
42:25Focusing on upcoming Bihar elections
42:27All of these recommendations have been incorporated
42:29By the joint parliamentary committee
42:31And therefore the partners
42:33The alliance partners have come forward to express support
42:35I want to now take you through the numbers
42:37Eventually it's a numbers game
42:39In the parliament, here's what you need to know
42:41The NDA has, look at that
42:43293 members of parliament
42:45India block has 238
42:47Close enough but clearly
42:49NDA alliance has the majority
42:51And BJP wants the alliance partners
42:53To be on the same page
42:55To add to the numbers
42:57The government needs a simple majority to pass the amendment
42:59At least in lower house of the parliament
43:01It appears they'll manage this easily
43:03Now that the NDA partners have come on board
43:05The halfway mark is 271
43:07But the BJP
43:09And the NDA wants
43:11Even the opposition parties
43:13Alliance partners in the opposition India block
43:15Also to come forth and support
43:17To add to the numbers
43:19Whether it's the opposition Congress
43:21Or the DMK
43:23Or the Green Moon Congress
43:25They are continuously trying to harm us
43:27We have addressed their issues
43:29We have addressed their issues
43:31Whether it's the JDU
43:33Or our
43:35Chandra Bahu Naidu's party
43:37Eknath Sindhi's or Chirag Paswan's
43:39All the members of parliament
43:41And all their issues
43:43We have addressed them
43:45In our meetings
43:47We have addressed
43:49All the issues and concerns
43:51I welcome this amendment
43:53And on behalf of our party
43:55On behalf of the people of the United
43:57In support of this amendment
43:59And all our MPs
44:01We have issued a whip
44:03And have been instructed
44:05That they will be present
44:07On 2nd, 3rd and 4th
44:09This April
44:11And they will support the government
44:13Especially
44:15This amendment
44:17Which you have to support
44:19And participate in the voting
44:21And support the government
44:23This has been instructed
44:25It is possible that
44:27On the amendment bill
44:29Which will be presented in the parliament tomorrow
44:31Not only the country
44:33But the entire Muslim society
44:35Will be affected
44:37Approximately 9 lakh acres of land
44:39Of the Waqf Board
44:41On which a lot of people
44:43Will be affected
44:45If this amendment bill
44:47Is taken back
44:49And if the amendment bill
44:51Comes in the interest of the Muslims
44:53Our party will definitely support it
44:55I feel that
44:57After the triple talaq
44:59A very important bill
45:01Will come in the parliament tomorrow
45:03And from which
45:05Till now
45:07The Muslim society has not got justice
45:09And the Muslim society
45:11Will have to give justice to the Muslims
45:13This amendment bill
45:15Will be passed in 2025
45:17The biggest land holder
45:19Is the Waqf
45:21There are a lot of
45:23Loopholes
45:25And corruption
45:27All this has been going on for so many years
45:29The Muslim society of our country
45:31And of Bihar
45:33And the common Muslims
45:35They gave some suggestions
45:37One or two suggestions were
45:39For the Waqf for the children
45:41Earlier only the sons had the right
45:43And till now
45:45Our party wants that
45:47If someone has done the Waqf
45:49Then the sons and daughters should get the benefit
45:51Because our party is thinking
45:53About the youth and women
45:55And the sources are saying
45:57That maybe the government
45:59Has given some support
46:01To the suggestions
46:03Of our party and our leader
46:05I am getting this suggestion
46:08Piyush Mishra continues to be with us
46:10Piyush, what do you think really
46:12Will be now the significance for the NDA
46:14If all the alliance partners are supporting
46:16And I wonder how the opposition
46:18Will ensure that even the NDA
46:20Trying to convince them does not happen
46:22Because Kerala could be I feel
46:24One of those states where the Congress
46:26The left could actually be in pressure
46:30Well NDA has got a lot of support
46:32And the kind of support which
46:34LJP and TDP and
46:36JDU also extended
46:38It has now given a big boost to Bharatiya Janata Party
46:40And that is why they are very confident
46:42To get this bill passed from Lok Sabha
46:44Though there are some
46:46Opposition parties who are still
46:48Requesting the likes of TDP
46:50And JDU
46:52To vote against this bill
46:54But WIP has been issued
46:56By both the parties
46:58To their MPs
47:00To come on the floor
47:02Of the house and support this bill
47:04So the government will have an easy way
47:06As far as passing from Lok Sabha is concerned
47:08And today itself we can expect the reply
47:10Also given by the government
47:12And by evening this bill is likely to be
47:14Passed from Lok Sabha
47:16Tomorrow in Rajya Sabha it will be brought
47:18There also after detailed discussion
47:20We are expecting that this bill will be passed
47:22Because there in Rajya Sabha also India has got
47:24A huge majority
47:26We have been speaking to various people from Congress and Samajwadi Party
47:28In fact the day before yesterday
47:30Ikra Hasan who is also going to speak
47:32Today during the discussion on the work for amendment bill
47:34She had you know openly
47:36Requested Chandrababu Naidu to
47:38Vote against this bill
47:40Because this bill is against Muslims
47:42But the government is of the view that if you
47:44Have any kind of objection then come on the
47:46Floor of the house and discuss on that
47:48So today the government is very confident
47:50We will have to see how the proceedings go on
47:52And what the government
47:54We have seen in the past
47:56Few years as much as there is
47:58This confidence before it's when that
48:00Number is pressed when that yes or
48:02No is pressed that is going to be
48:04Eventually deciding if the
48:06Bill goes through in the Lok Sabha
48:08First and then in the Rajya Sabha
48:10Piyush stay on with me because remember
48:12NDA while is confident they have the
48:14Support of the members they'll want
48:16To be very sure that just
48:18In case any of these parties looking at their
48:20Local state vote bank may
48:22Shift but how did they manage to get the
48:24NDA partners on board here's
48:26How the BJP got allies
48:28The demand one of the big ones
48:30Was that district collector should
48:32Not become the final authority according
48:34To our information that demand
48:36Has been met so a check on that demand
48:38Number two that had come in from the allies
48:40Walkable should not be
48:42Implemented retrospectively that
48:44The existing mosque site should
48:46Be as is for now we are told that
48:48Demand has been met on that
48:50To another demand increase
48:52The six month deadline for
48:54The registration that demand
48:56Has been met as well
48:58Then this is important both the
49:00Bihar state alliance partners
49:02And the TDP had said that land
49:04Is a state subject states
49:06Must have a final say on it
49:08And that properties must not
49:10Have a dispute with regard
49:12To when it comes to the work and the
49:14District collector and others that demand
49:16Has been met that land remains a state
49:18Subject states will have the final say
49:20On it demand number five
49:22Interference in existing mosques
49:24Muslim worship sites should not
49:26Happen and that should be stopped
49:28For now that demand also has been met
49:30So a lot of status quo will also be maintained
49:32But there have been references added
49:34That's one of the reasons that you see
49:36The janata dal united the telugu
49:38Desam the lgp have come on board
49:40With the NDA
49:48BJP wants to
49:50Take its campaign on to the
49:52Streets as well across india
49:54A poster rally is being organized
49:56Backing the waqf bill in national capital
49:58Delhi so not just
50:00On the floor of the house in the
50:02Parliament they want to go to the streets
50:04To the people
50:06There is a poster rally being organized
50:08In central delhi for the waqf amendment bill
50:10So in many ways
50:12Remember a campaign in the parliament
50:14And then at the parliament street
50:16As well
50:22One
50:26Of the big names that has
50:28Come in in the past few hours has been
50:30Chandra babu naidu chandra babu
50:32Naidu's late night bill bill
50:34Brainstorming has happened remember
50:36And we'll also play
50:38Out that visual soon there had been an
50:40Event recently of the eid
50:42Where he appeared to have given out
50:44Statement that appeared that he may not
50:46Back the waqf bill or had a
50:48Cautionary messages on it but now
50:50The tdp is backing it i want to
50:52Immediately bring in my colleague
50:54Apoorva jayachandran on this sources are
50:56Telling us tdp seeking state power
50:58On the non-muslim member to be
51:00Included in the waqf board but
51:02A last minute approval has been
51:04Granted to the nda of the final
51:06Yes apoorva tell me more
51:08About this because you and i were
51:10Discussing about that eid event where he
51:12Made that statement what happened in
51:14The past few hours that the tdp
51:16Says they will go ahead and
