00:00The Human Resources Ministry has denied claims that its minister, Stephen Sim, had appointed

00:07anyone as his advisor, following reports linking a businessman accused of fraud to his office.

00:14Sim's press secretary, Abdul Hakim Abrahman, said that the ministry was aware of the allegations.

00:20He said that any inquiries regarding positions within the minister's office or the Human

00:25Resources Ministry should be directed to their official channels.

00:30The clarification follows a news report alleging that a businessman with a Tan Sri title arrested

00:35on Saturday for allegedly defrauding the public of 10 million ringgit was also an advisor

00:41to the minister.

00:44The 59-year-old, who has 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, was apprehended

00:49by Bukit Aman's anti-money laundering team upon returning to his house in Jalan Yutan,

00:54Kuala Lumpur, after a trip to Osaka, Japan.
