00:00Charlie Brown's restaurant has been a Lexington staple for nearly 50 years, but this spring
00:06it's been taken over by a new ownership with ties to horse racing.
00:11So me and Chris brothers have been coming here for over a decade and became friends
00:16with the owner and the staff and always kind of joked that we'd like to own it one day.
00:22Old owner was named David Fuller, he owned it for 40 years.
00:27Dave reached out to us one day and said it was time to pass on the torch and we were
00:31pretty much honored, I mean very honored to be given that opportunity.
00:37I mean the history of it, being here for 50 years and it's a major part of the community.
00:44Every inch of this place just screams him and so we wanted to continue his legacy.
00:50He got a lot of big offers from a lot of outsiders to buy it, but he wanted it to stay relatively
00:56in house and that's where our other partner Chris Beeler is involved.
00:59He worked here for 13 years as a bartender, cook and manager and so he's been a huge asset
01:06to us as horse racing outsiders of the restaurant industry.
01:13So I'm basically a bloodstock agent.
01:15I own Climax Stallions, we got stallions in California, Florida, Maryland and West Virginia
01:22right now.
01:23I got Feld Family Racing, which is a partnership group.
01:27I'm a line cook here, as much as I can I love it.
01:31I own Xavier International Bloodstock, I've been doing that for a while and then started
01:36Stable Duel and was doing that for about 5-6 years.
01:41Right when this opportunity came around, it was actually perfect because I was wanting
01:45a little change of pace.
01:47The cooking part I'd probably eat too much of it.
01:49I got fired from my uncle's restaurant when I was a kid for eating the bread coming out
01:53of the oven.
01:54So, I'm better in the front.
01:57The beauty of it is having two of your best friends as partners as we back each other
02:01up with everything we can do and we have no problem getting dirty, we have no problem
02:05cooking, we have no problem cleaning tables, bussing, everything.
02:10This place is special because it's all ages can come.
02:15We got the richest people in Lexington come and we got students that can't rub two pennies
02:19together that come.
02:20So, it's a hodgepodge of society and everyone has a good time.
02:24The people in this community really respect the vibe and respect the atmosphere and so
02:29we don't plan on changing anything.
02:31If you're here for this long, it's not broke, don't fix it.
02:34But we're excited with Keeneland coming up and hoping we'll get a bunch of people before,
02:38during and after the races.
02:40It's a great place to watch horse racing.
02:43You'll always have someone at the bar that has a form out or their iPad out rooting on
02:48some horse of all ages.
02:51There's always horse racing on and we actually had a bunch of people here to watch the Dubai
02:55World Cup and hopefully maybe down the line we'll have a Royal Ascot party or two as well.
03:00So, we're going to definitely be cats forward and horse forward as well.
