00:00Ways and Means was bred at Dell Ridge Farm in Lexington, Kentucky.

00:15Really she was a star of our crop from the beginning.

00:20She's been a leader of our crop all the way until she got to us, and here she's been a

00:24leader.

00:25Those horses that are really the leaders of their class from birth, and everyone that's

00:31touched them has the same thing to say, that's really where the stars come from.

00:35She came to us here in the early part of the summer and never disappointed.

00:40We had worked her, had a serious work two back out of the gate, and the horse worked

00:45quick but well within herself, and Flavian was actually on her.

00:49We just had a plan yesterday that if she was able to break clean and get in that first

00:53forward group, I really wanted him to try to teach her something and not be on the

00:58lead and behind horses if the opportunity came up, which he executed beautifully.

01:03She was able to rate behind horses quietly and that when he made the lead, she was professional.

01:09It's hard for an unraised two-year-old to even breeze alone, let alone run alone.

01:16You often see horses maybe get green, not travel straight, wait on horses, none of that

01:22with her.

01:23She just gallops through the lane like she's a three-year-old.

01:26For this brilliant filly, Ways and Means, the future is bright.

01:31I'm happy that he never really asked her to run much because there's a lot of big stuff

01:34ahead of her.

01:35You have to take a good look at the spin away.

01:37He's right here in Saratoga, it doesn't look like she ran that hard yesterday.

01:41I wouldn't be concerned about an extra furlong or facing state horses as fast as she ran.

01:49It just felt like she had a lot more to think.

01:51Ways and Means looks a lot like Practical Joke, actually.

01:55Very similar, same color, they have the same head.

02:00They're strikingly similar, these two horses.

02:02He was just such an honest, hard-knocking, reliable racehorse.

02:06He raced at the highest level.

02:08He was effective running really from six furlongs all the way to a mile and an eighth.

02:16I find those horses, the more I do this, that have a wide range in distance and still

02:22tried and are somewhat effective through various gap in distances, oftentimes they become really

02:30good sires.
