00:00It's officially Derby week, and this morning at Churchill Downs, we caught up with trainers

00:06D. Wayne Lucas, Bill Mott, and Tim Yakteen.

00:09You know, going into the week, I was apprehensive about even putting money on the eligible because

00:16I didn't think it was a big chance.

00:18I'm happy for the owners.

00:20I've been there, it's like my old Kentucky home, watched it all happen and everything,

00:25but they're new people, new clients, are very enthused about everything, and so they're

00:32tickled to death.

00:33I'm happy for them.

00:45Just took Messier out early, he can get a little strong, and he looked really great,

00:48got over the ground very well, so I'm very happy with the way things went this morning.

00:54Totally different individuals, Messier, he's just a little more aggressive in his exercise

00:59in the morning.

01:00Ty was a little more reserved, laid back, and so that's sort of the differences between

01:07the two of them.

01:19She's come into it real well.

01:20I thought she had a very good work when we breezed her, and on the bridle, but was willing

01:28to have a strong gallop out.

01:30I mean, she looked like she was moving very well and full of herself.

01:33She had plenty of energy, and I was certainly happy with her the next morning.

01:38She came back out of it in good shape.

01:41Early on in her career, she was dropping way back, and she was coming from last, so she

01:48was kind of coming from left field, but with racing, she's gained a little experience,

01:54and now she's putting herself up in the race a little more.

02:09I have great respect for the horses that are in the Oaks.

02:12There's three or four or five of them in there that make it the best Oaks in my era.

02:18I've never, in my years here, ever seen a better Oaks.

02:21She's one of them.

02:22I think if you could only go one day, Oaks or Derby, you'd see a better race on the Oaks

02:27than the Derby.
