President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed during their call on Tuesday to seek a limited ceasefire against energy and infrastructure targets in the Russia-Ukraine war, according to the White House.

00:00President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin wrapped up a more than 90-minute
00:05phone call where they agreed to begin to seek a limited ceasefire as the first step towards
00:13bringing about the end to Russia's more than three-year invasion of Ukraine.
00:20That first step would include a halt on fighting on both sides, attacking on both sides of
00:26energy and infrastructure targets, which on both sides have suffered severe damage
00:33over recent years, and then from there the U.S. plan to extend to targets in the Black
00:38Sea as they try to rebuild economic corridors, and then finally a final complete ceasefire
00:45to that war.
00:46It is unclear yet just the extent to which the Ukrainian government is on board with
00:51that plan.
00:52They have proposed versions of that, but the devil will obviously be in the details.
00:56The real test is going to be does this sort of agreement in principle actually materialize?
01:01Do both sides cease attacks on energy and infrastructure sites in their respective countries?
01:10That will be the first trust-building exercise, so to speak, of this.
01:14Can they actually get what is an agreement in principle into something that takes effect
01:17on the ground?
01:19And then from there it will be the beginning of negotiations somewhere in the Middle East
01:23over extending that ceasefire to the maritime and then ultimately back onto the ground.
01:31Really the first step, though, is can both sides sort of commit to this?
01:36Will there be some sort of hang-up before this limited ceasefire is implemented?
