00:00It's a further round of financial support for people in South East Queensland who've
00:07been affected by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
00:14You will have seen in recent days the Prime Minister already announced some forms of support,
00:19things like the Disaster Recovery Allowance, which provide up to 13 weeks pay for people
00:24who were unable to work because of a direct impact of the cyclone.
00:30Also in the last couple of days both the State and Federal Governments have announced jointly
00:35funded Personal Hardship Grants for a number of different regions within South East Queensland.
00:41Today I'm able to announce that the Australian Government will be activating from 2pm today
00:47our Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment.
00:51Now this is one that a lot of people will know about from past events.
00:55It provides a $1,000 grant per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child, but it's for
01:03people who've suffered serious damage to their homes or serious injuries as a direct result
01:09of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
01:12So typically these grants are available for people who have received or suffered some
01:16form of property damage.
01:18We're not talking about a bit of water on your front lawn, it's where you've actually
01:22had some damage to your home.
01:24And it's a small but useful piece of financial support, 100% funded by the Federal Government
01:30and that's of course on top of the Personal Hardship Grants and Disaster Recovery Allowances
01:35that we're already funding.
