00:07To QUADCOM chairperson and Surigao del Norte representative Robert Ace Barbers, it was

00:12vindication for all those marathon hearings, especially the revelation of the reward system

00:18that made sense on the thousands of deaths on the war on illegal drugs.

00:22While for deputy majority leader Paulo Ortega, the arrest meant there is no statute of limitations

00:27on the quest for justice.

00:29Carmela Lesmaras has more on reactions of House Solons on this historic event on justice

00:39Several lawmakers asserted the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte proves no one is

00:44above the law.

00:45According to House Committee on Women and Gender Equality Chair Geraldine Roman, the

00:49hearings conducted by the House QUAD Committee played a significant role in Duterte's arrest.

00:55She said, this hearings revealed crucial information that aided the investigation of the International

01:01Criminal Court, which issued the warrant of arrest against Duterte.

01:05To the families of the alleged extrajudicial killing victims during the Duterte administration,

01:10she had this to say.

01:13And sooner or later, we will have all to face justice, face the music.

01:20We heard you.

01:22We know how you feel.

01:25And here in the House of Representatives, we are not shy in calling on the victims of

01:31EJK to take responsibility.

01:35For House QUADCOM lead chair Robert Ace Barbers, the arrest of former President Duterte is

01:40a significant step toward achieving justice.

01:43He stated, this is not just about one person, but more importantly, about restoring the

01:47public trust in the justice system.

01:50In a separate statement, Kabataan Partylist Representative Raul Manuel said, Duterte's

01:55arrest was long overdue and well-deserved.

01:57For the families of alleged EJK victims, although they feel glad of Duterte now in custody,

02:03they are hoping for nothing but justice to prevail.
