Ministers have proposed banning criminals from sports games and bars as an alternative to jail time to help free up space in prisons. Do you think this is a good or bad idea?

For my own experience, obviously I'm not a criminal, but I am massively into sport and
00:04
love football. I'm a Huddersfield Town fan, so I've been having a tough time recently,
00:09
but me and my friends and my family are obsessed with sport. So to me, if that was taken away from
00:15
me, that'd be a big, big part of my life. And obviously in Leeds with such a passionate fan
00:21
base for the football team here, I would imagine it would affect some people if that was taken
00:26
away. And obviously the pub side of it, a lot of people get in trouble because they're in the pub,
00:31
so potentially that could be a deterrent for them to misbehave or have a couple too many pints and
00:36
get into trouble. If the reasoning for that is just that there's not enough space in prisons,
00:42
that kind of suggests to me that it's more out of desperation rather than the idea that it'd be good
00:51
for reforming. Well, the problem is that the prisons are full, full stop. And that's it, the prisons are full.
