00:00The Philippines is ready to block any illegal flights of China, according to the Defense Department.
00:06In the middle of China's plans to place the airspace in the West Philippine Sea in the Air Defense Identification Zone,
00:14China has made a move.
00:20Just this February, a Chinese military helicopter
00:23intercepted a B-4 airplane in the airspace of Bajo de Masinloc in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines.
00:32While in August, the Chinese fighter jets lost their flares
00:36against the aircraft of the Philippine Air Force in the same place.
00:40This is a rare opportunity for China to exercise control over the West Philippine Sea.
00:46What if China establishes itself in the West Philippine Sea in the Air Defense Identification Zone or ADIZ
00:53or a place where all incoming aircraft will be required to identify, say the location, and give control?
01:01China has already done that in the parts of the East China Sea
01:04that are included in the Exclusive Economic Zones of Japan and South Korea.
01:08Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. said that this is illegal,
01:12so the Philippines will implement countermeasures and other allies of the country to counter it.
01:19If possible, there are Philippine aircraft that have not yet been identified by the National Maritime Council.
01:26Aside from the ability of the Philippine Air Force to detect all airplanes in the West Philippine Sea,
01:31the Air Force can also send jets there to radio challenge and investigate them.
01:49The Air Force, in general, is capable of doing the necessary challenges.
01:54According to a security expert,
01:56the establishment of the ADIZ in the South China Sea, including the West Philippine Sea, has long been expected.
02:03It's a zone that the country would declare.
02:06It's primarily a strategic diplomatic move
02:09wherein any aircraft entering that zone has to identify itself to that country.
02:16Well, you need a lot of facilities, you need a lot of radar and monitoring systems
02:21so you can monitor your airspace.
