00:00The Philippines and Japan have further strengthened their security and defense ties following

00:06the visit of Japanese Defense Minister Nakatani Gen to President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

00:11During their meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations

00:16and addressing regional security challenges.

00:18Minister Gen expressed optimism about the continued growth of maritime cooperation between

00:39the two nations.

00:40He also shared insights from his visit to Bagsa Air Base in Pampanga and Wallace Air

00:44Station in La Union.

00:57As part of his visit, Minister Gen met with the Department of National Defense Secretary

01:02Gilbert Teodoro to reinforce commitments in advancing regional security and defense collaboration.

01:08Japan remains one of the Philippines' key strategic partners with 264 bilateral agreements

01:14covering defense equipment, technology, infrastructure development, and Mindanao's progress.

01:20Japan also provides education and training programs for the armed forces of the Philippines.

01:24Since 2023, the Philippines has been among the first recipients of Japan's assistance

01:29in AFP modernization aimed at deepening security cooperation and defense capabilities.

01:35Japan also continues to support the Philippines' commitment to international law, including

01:39the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

01:42Both nations advocate for stronger regional cooperation to prevent escalating tensions

01:47in the West Philippine Sea.

01:48These partnerships emphasizes peaceful and conflict resolution while enhancing their

01:53respective defense and security capabilities.
