Brummies share their favourite places to eat

From family-friendly spots to hidden gems, people in Birmingham have plenty of recommendations when it comes to eating out. Whether it's a well-known chain or a local favourite, food lovers in the city have no shortage of places to enjoy a meal.

00:00Birmingham is home to a huge range of restaurants from independent cafes to Michelin-starred

00:06dining. With so much choice, we wanted to know which places stand out to the people

00:12who eat here most. We took to the streets to find out where Brummies love to go for

00:17food.

00:18Oh, goodness. It depends who I'm with and what the occasion is. Been to places like

00:25Six by Nico, which was really cool, a nice themed restaurant, a bit quirky, a bit different.

00:31But I've been to Indian Brewery, which is fantastic Indian street food, which is really

00:37cool. So if you're going with work and we're just going there for a quick lunch and bite

00:42to eat, that's great too.

00:43Excuse me. So yeah, it just depends what the occasion is, really.

00:49Personally, for me, I would say Soho Tavern. It's a chain of desi pubs and they do amazing

00:57mixed grills, which I think is great for everybody because you can get vegan ones as well. And

01:03I'm vegan, so I can also enjoy a vegan mixed grill. Yeah.

01:08If you're looking for steak, which is my favourite, then there's the Brazilian place that's down

01:16in Brindley Place, which is great because you can just literally have as much as you

01:20want by having a green card or a red card. Green says go, red says no. And that's a great

01:26place. You can have as much as you want there. That's a nice place. And they've got other

01:29restaurants, Italian restaurants around there.

01:31One of my favourite places is Wagamama's, just because I like noodles. It's all about

01:39me. There's a few places to be fair. I feel like Birmingham's quite centralised against

01:43the youth and the community as to what they like, Instagram. So I know that there's a

01:48lot of hidden bars and hidden gems in Birmingham, such as Aura Lounge, which is down the road.

01:52They have quite a big cuisine. But yeah, I feel like it's quite versatile in Birmingham.
