MP’s are set to see an above inflation pay rise. This means their annual salary which reach nearly £94,000. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority has proposed MPs receive this 2.8% pay rise for MP’s from April.

00:20pay recommendations for public sector workers. Any expenses for staffing, office costs, accommodation

00:27and travel are paid in addition to salaries. This pay rise proposal represents a rise

00:32of nearly £20,000 in wages over the past 10 years. MPs also received a 5.5% pay rise

00:39last year. The proposal is set to go to consultation and a decision will be made on salary in mid-March.

00:45Richard Lloyd, IPSA's chair, said that their aim has been to make fair decisions on pay

00:50both for MPs and the public. He added that the pay proposal also recognises the vital

00:55role of MPs in the current economic climate. This increase would make MP salaries three
