It proves that we need help on the defensive side, but it also proves that, you know, the
00:06
loss to Washington, you know, they're still a good team.
00:09
Yeah, I mean, look, the thing is, you just have to play your best in these biggest games.
00:16
What happened yesterday was a product of Philly playing their best and Kansas City playing
00:22
one of their worst games they played in a while.
00:24
It's not only Philadelphia playing their best, it's Philadelphia at their best.
00:28
They're healthy.
00:29
You know how many defensive linemen they have on the injured reserve one and he's never
00:35
played a snap for them.
00:36
Wow.
00:37
I mean, the Lions had three starters and two on the two more off the two deep on the injured
00:43
reserve.
00:44
Like, I can appreciate that.
00:47
They did look great, but they have one D lineman on injured reserve.
00:51
Look, let me get this straight, too.
00:52
I think that a healthy Lions team beats the Kansas City team.
00:56
I don't know if the healthy Lions team beats the healthy Philadelphia team, but that's
01:00
a battle I'd love to see.
01:03
And they more than have a shot, of course, and if had, you know, the Lions beat the Commanders,
01:06
they would have had to host that game.
01:08
Obviously, they wouldn't have been, you know, injury free like we wanted them to be.
01:10
But let's not forget, as great as the Eagles looked last night and they were dominant from
01:14
start to finish, they almost lost to the Rams a couple of weeks ago.
01:18
They're right.
01:19
The Rams were about to go in for a game leading touchdown and Stafford threw a bad pass.
01:26
And I know weather played a role in that as well, but they're not unbeatable.
01:29
The Eagles just looked unbeatable last night.
01:31
They put it all together.
01:32
Yes, exactly.
01:33
It was a it was an ass kicking and keep this in mind, too.
01:36
Last year, the Eagles lost in the first round of the playoffs, but then they made a monster.
01:40
They made some monster moves in the offseason.
01:42
They went out there.
01:43
They got Saquon Barkley in his 2000 yards rushing his MVP type of season, and they hit
01:50
in the draft again.
01:53
They went to the draft, spent the first two picks on defensive backs, and those two picks
01:58
were studs.
02:00
It worked out for them.
02:01
And that's what an offseason can do.
02:04
I'm hoping the same thing can happen for the Lions in an offseason.
02:07
But for the Lions, it's getting healthy and then finding that extra piece on defense.
02:13
Paul's in Clinton Township at NACS.
02:15
Hello, Paul.
02:16
Hey, guys.
02:17
Thanks for taking the call.
02:18
Sure.
02:20
The thing I took out of it was, you know, obviously Philly went to the Super Bowl two
02:25
years ago, and then last year they imploded, lost in the first round of the playoffs, and
02:29
people were talking about firing their coach and talking about the proverbial they missed
02:34
their window.
02:35
Right.
02:36
Remember all that chatter?
02:38
And they had the 30th ranked defense last year in the league, and they were able to
02:45
turn it around, like Gator said, with some moves that they made.
02:48
But like anything, it does take being healthy.
02:52
I would love to take seven guys off of that defense I watched last night and then see
02:58
how good that defense would be if I was able to do that.
03:03
And obviously, that's not what happened.
03:05
They were healthy and props to them.
03:07
They were legitimately an incredible performance last night.
03:12
But like I said, that defense and everything they did was predicated on the fact that they
03:15
had all their players.
03:18
The other thing it did...
03:19
Knocked seven off that team on defense, and I don't think they'd be as dominant last year
03:24
as they were.
03:25
Of course they wouldn't be.
03:26
You're 100% right on that.
03:27
But the other thing that Philadelphia's defense did and why they were able to be so good is
03:32
they didn't have to blitz.
03:33
They got everything they needed to from the front four.
03:36
And it wasn't like they had this constant pressure coming from the outside.
03:39
It starts in the middle with those guys.
03:41
But it's a different kind of pass rush that got there.
03:44
Their defensive tackles are spectacular.
03:47
And when you're under duress like Mahomes was, he doesn't have time to throw and set
03:51
up and throw those deep passes.
03:54
He was in a lot of trouble.
03:56
And they've got young defensive backs who are able to stay step for step with the receivers
03:59
for the most part.
04:01
And they got the job done.
04:02
But that defensive line did such an amazing job against the Chiefs.
04:08
And that's why we get excited.
04:10
The Lions have pieces of that, but it's not a complete job yet.
