00:05The rap megastar will headline Sunday's Super Bowl halftime show,

00:10and he promises more than just rhymes.

00:16I think I've always been very open about storytelling

00:24through all my catalogue and my history of music.

00:27And I've always had a passion about bringing that on whatever stage I'm on.

00:31You know, whether it's a world tour, or whether it's 500 people at Key Club,

00:37I've always had a form of that.

00:39So I like to always carry on that sense of, you know, make people listen,

00:44but also see and think a little.

00:48Dubbed the greatest rapper alive and a lyrical genius,

00:52Kendrick Lamar is the first and only rapper who has ever won a Pulitzer Prize.

01:01Last Sunday, he brought home five Grammys,

01:04including Song and Record of the Year for his diss track Not Like Us,

01:08written for his fellow rapper Drake.

01:11Lamar promised to infuse the stage with his Los Angeles hip-hop flavour,

01:15but above all, stay true to himself.

01:18I have to be who I am authentically,

01:20and if, you know, the world can't accept that, then so be it.

01:28you know, whether it's in private or whether it's on the main stage.

01:31The rapper had never imagined he would perform at the Super Bowl when he was starting out.
