00:00The Country Music Awards Association have laid down their cards and unfortunately Beyoncé's

00:06album Cowboy Carter was not included in the fold of this year's nominations.

00:11Among those shortlisted for Best Entertainer, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Lainey

00:16Wilson and Morgan Wallen with seven nominations in total.

00:20For many fans, the snub was a deliberate but not unexpected slap in the face.

00:25The CMA's have once again deferred to those in the industry who prefer to deny black artists

00:30the recognition they deserve, failing to nominate Beyoncé in a single category this year despite

00:34her record-breaking success with Texas Hold'em and Cowboy Carter.

00:39Such a blatant snub only tells me that the CMA nomination committee members couldn't

00:44bear the thought of a black woman who doesn't fit their idea of a country star sweeping

00:48the biggest categories of the night, so they opted not to recognize her at all.

00:53Released in spring, Cowboy Carter became the first album by a black woman to land at

00:57number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

01:01The single Texas Hold'em also became the first by a black woman to claim the top spot

01:06on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.

01:11When discussing her latest music, Beyoncé said Cowboy Carter was born out of her experience

01:15of being made to feel unwelcome on the country music scene.

01:19Ex-Britain fans view the album as a reclamation and homage to an overlooked legacy of black

01:23Americans within country music and culture.

01:26While Beyoncé has not commented on the snub, one of the nominees for New Artist of the

01:30Year, Shaboozie, tweeted his support for her.

01:34That goes without saying, thank you Beyoncé for opening a door for us, starting a conversation

01:40and giving us one of the most innovative country albums of all time.

01:44The CMA Awards are nominated and voted on by members of the Country Music Association,

01:49which includes music executives, artists, publicist-songwriters and other industry professionals.

01:54Winners of the CMAs will be announced at a ceremony broadcast live on November 20th.
