00:00The MMDA admitted that it needs to study more before removing the EDSA bus lane to increase the capacity of the MRT-3.

00:11We have breaking news from Isaiah Mirafuentes of PTV.

00:16Metro Manila Development Authority, or MMDA, is considering removing the EDSA bus lane.

00:23This is what MMDA Chair Nomando Artes said, to increase the capacity of the MRT-3.

00:30We will be able to free up space in the EDSA.

00:34Imagine, one additional lane that vehicles can use.

00:39Not because we are car-centric, but definitely it will be able to expand.

00:44But Artes said that it needs to study more before this is implemented.

00:50I won't agree because it's easier. I think LRT is more convenient for commuters.

00:57Of course, as a commuter, I'm not in favor of it.

01:01Of course, we have alternative vehicle use.

01:07But since I'm a commuter, I also need a bus.

01:11And since it's easy to use.

01:13It will be hard for us to travel again.

01:17As a commuter, that's all I can say.

01:21They don't have a possible date when this will happen.

01:24But according to the Department of Transportation,

01:27they believe that the EDSA bus lane is still one of the most effective transportation.

01:32In 2024, the EDSA bus lane was worth more than P63 million.

01:37And the average number of passengers is P177,000 per day.

01:41Meanwhile, the plan of the Congestion Charge to motorists is not working.

01:48This is the kind of payment that you need to pay when you enter a city.

01:54This is the only solution to reduce the traffic in EDSA.

01:58For the President, public transportation in the country needs to be well-organized

02:03before the Congestion Charges will be implemented.

02:05This means that it will take a long time to be implemented.

02:09And it will require a lot of consultation and study.
