Some polls show Reform UK overtaking other parties, suggesting they could be a major force at the next election. We ask locals why they think they’re gaining support and whether they’d want them to lead the country.

00:00Well, I certainly wouldn't want them to form the next government.

00:03I think that some of them have got some highly dubious views,

00:07to put it mildly.

00:09I think one of the reasons they're gaining traction

00:11is that people have lost faith in the traditional political parties.

00:15Some of that is founded and some unfounded,

00:19and probably the rise of social media

00:22and people's kind of hunt for populist easy answers is part of that.

00:27The answer is very simple.

00:28People always will try something else.

00:30But I think if you kind of remind people that you're part of a society

00:35and everybody has different needs and requirements,

00:39so what's good for all of us is always the best thing.

00:43And sometimes a fresh, new political force

00:46will kind of make the ones more established

00:49pay more attention to what they're doing.

00:52So I think it's all working out.

00:54I don't trust any of them.

00:56Who's ever in, I've no faith in any of them.

00:59Because I'm old.
