00:00Hello, I'm Roz Jones, Mayor of Doncaster. I have some important news about our airport.
00:06As you can see, I'm on site at the airport in its terminal building to share with you that we have taken the next significant step to reopening it.
00:15I'm delighted to announce that Munich Airport International will take on the operating role.
00:21Munich Airport International is one of Europe's most successful operators, running four international airports around the world, from USA, Germany to Bulgaria and Honduras.
00:33Helping us reopen our beloved airport will be their first venture in the UK.
00:38To help us see flights leave and arrive from this site, the council has set up Fly Doncaster, a limited company owned totally by the council, and will team up with Munich Airport International and aviation developers Fly Plymouth.
00:53Together, we will work at pace to get our airport open in the spring of 2026.
00:59My number one ambition is to reopen the airport, and we are well on the way to doing that.
01:05I'll update you on our progress, but for now, let's celebrate this major milestone, and thanks to everyone for their support to getting us where we are today.
