00:00It's Argentina's largest demonstration in months.

00:03In Buenos Aires and other cities across the country, thousands came out to defend diversity

00:08and show their opposition to President Javier Mele.

00:11Their signs call for resistance and compare the president to a Nazi.

00:16I am scared, I feel disgusted and it makes me sad, but I won't hide because I'm scared.

00:24We have always existed in different ways under all kinds of governments, but to see Nazism

00:29rise to power is very difficult to watch and truly terrifying.

00:36The message that this government is trying to send is that the other, which would be

00:44us, is something bad that needs to be removed, like a virus that must be eradicated, a cancer

00:51that must be cut out.

00:53They want to erase us from history, take away our rights and strip us of what we have fought

00:59for.

01:01The march was organised by women's and LGBTQ rights groups, with the backing of trade unions

01:06and opposition politicians.

01:08It comes after the president's controversial comments on inclusion and diversity at Davos

01:13last month.

01:15His administration insisted Mele was the victim of malicious interpretation, however it's

01:20not his first attack on minority rights.

01:22Mele dissolved the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity during his first year in office.
