Shona Bradley, owner of Doll Beauty & Aesthetics, New Road Side, Horsforth, Leeds, has been nominated in a top beauty award 'Best UK Salon 2025' after months of campaigning 'to make a difference in domestic violence' by holding charity days.

00:00So I've been nominated for Best Salon 2025 from the UK Hair and Beauty Awards.

00:06And you've been nominated in this as well?

00:08Yes, so I was nominated for Best New Salon in 2022 and I came fifth place in the UK.

00:13And also you do charity, is it work or fundraising?

00:17So I like to do fundraising for domestic violence. I think it's something that's

00:21really important. So in October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month,

00:25I dedicate one day of my diary and all proceeds made in that day go straight to

00:30a charity for domestic violence. Last year it was Staying Put,

00:34which is one that's helped family members of mine. So it was really important for me to do that.

00:38And you think that when you've got clients and they obviously talk to you

00:41personally about certain things that you can help?

00:44Yeah, I feel in a beauty salon you have close relationships with your clients.

00:49They speak to you about a number of different things that could be something like domestic

00:53violence. And I feel it's really important to raise awareness in something like the beauty

00:57industry for when people tell you about things like that that are going on in their life,

01:02that you know the resources of where to go when they've told you stuff like that.

01:06And when you were raising these funds for charity, did you donate money for that week?

01:11On one day in particular. So I dedicated one day to my diary and all of the proceeds

01:16made in that day went directly to Staying Put.
