00:00The Manila Hotel was filled with biggest sports stars during the recent Philippine Sports Writers Association or PSA Awards night.

00:08Here's the report from Jamaica, Bayaka.

00:13More than a hundred former and current sports heroes of the country gathered for an important evening of recognition

00:21for the success of Philippine sports in 2024 during the Philippine Sports Writers Association or PSA Awards night.

00:30One of the event's highlights was the recognition of the historic achievement of 2024 Paris Olympics double gold medalist Carlos Yulo

00:40who received the PSA Athlete of the Year Award and the Gold Grip and Glory Award from Milo Philippines.

00:47Thank you so much again to those who prayed, to those who celebrated, to all those who participated, thank you so much.

00:56Together, let's pray again for the upcoming 2028 Paris Olympics and the Philippine Olympic Games.

01:06I am Carlos Yulo, and we will win this.

01:13Despite her absence in the event, the success of first Filipina Olympic gold medalist, four-time PSA Athlete of the Year awardee,

01:22and 2020 Tokyo Olympian Heideline Diaz was also recognized with the PSA Hall of Fame Award.

01:30Meanwhile, the 2024 Paris Olympics bronze medalist, Ira Villegas and Neste Pateso also received the PSA President's Award.

01:40I want to share that when I was 15 years old, Coach Roy was my first coach in the national team.

01:47He was a great coach. He was a great coach. He always told me to be explicitly strict, to be disciplined, to have determination,

02:01and to always go for it. His motto was, no one here, no one there. I'm sure that's what he taught me.

02:10To all my brothers and sisters, thank you so much. And to my coaches, to all of us who are still alive, God bless you.

02:20The Executive of the Year Award was given to POC President, Abraham Bambol-Tolentino,

02:27while the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines was awarded as the NSA of the Year.

02:34Jun Morfajardo and Kevin Quiambao were inducted as Mr. Basketball, while Gia Morado de Guzman was named Ms. Volleyball.

02:43The night was made even more special, as all Olympians from 1964 to 2020,

02:50as well as the Filipino athletes who participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics and 2024 Paris Paralympics,

02:59were also given special recognition. 19 sports personalities and organizations

03:04received special citations, while seven were honored with the Tony Sidayo Awards.

03:11Your dedication and sacrifice in hope to inspire and shine a light for the nation. And again, thank you.
