00:00The Philippine Coast Guard, or PCG, responded to a medical emergency involving Filipino
00:05fishermen 70 nautical miles off Silangoin Island, Zambales.
00:10While monitoring the illegal presence of a Chinese Coast Guard vessel, the PCG received
00:15a distress call from the fishermen.
00:17Tragically, one fisherman passed away before the rescue team could reach them, but the
00:22body was recovered and brought back to Zambales despite the rough seas.
00:26The PCG condemned the actions of the Chinese Coast Guard, which followed their ship during
00:31the rescue.
00:32The BRP Teresa Magbanua has since replaced the BRP Cabra to continue monitoring the situation
00:39as Chinese vessels remain in the Philippine EEZ.
00:42We have been very successful when we deployed the BRP Cabra.
00:49Despite of its small size, the BRP Cabra really did well to push back the Chinese Coast Guard
00:58vessel.
00:59Repeating our strategy with the deployment of a much bigger vessel, BRP Teresa Magbanua,
01:06I think we can be able to attain that objective.
