‘I don’t care, we should be proud!’ Londoners on illegal immigration

A recent study said 1 in 12 Londoners could be living here illegally, but Londoners say immigration is what makes this city one of the best in the world.

00:16Well London has always been in a city of

00:18immigration since the Tudor times so the idea that you know somehow they

00:22shouldn't be here is just it's a nonsense. That's why it's a financial

00:27hop, it's because of the people that came here.

00:30Hearing that 1 in 12 are here

00:32illegally, honestly I don't care if they felt that we were a safe space and they

00:36felt that this was somewhere to come. Nobody leaves everything they know for

00:40no reason and I think we ought to be proud to be a place that people want to

00:44come to for safety. I think it's also indicative of a much bigger global

00:50situation and kind of demonising individuals for that structural

00:56situation is unfair at best and dangerous at worst.
