Youngsters from The Way Youth Zone have been learning cooking skills at the centre in Wolverhampton, with a guest invited to chat with the youngsters as they cook a three course meal.

Express & Star senior reporter James Vukmirovic was the invited guest on Thursday, January 23, enjoying a three course meal of cheesy garlic bread, spaghetti carbonara and red velvet cupcakes which was cooked for him by Layla, Aoife and Isiss

00:00Hello, I'm James McMirovich and behind me is the Way Youth Zone here on the edge of Wolverhampton City Centre.
00:07It's a centre where young people from across the city can come and enjoy a range of activities, after-school activities and learn vital skills.
00:15I'm actually here tonight because one of the things they do is a come-dine-with-me style scheme where they invite people in and various members of the team will cook you a meal
00:25and give the full immersive experience, sort of talk with you and I suppose find out a bit more about you, you can find out a bit more about them and see how it goes.
00:33I'm the guest this evening so let's go in and see what the food's like.
00:37Dessert or whatever we're making. Yeah, go on Leila, can you do that? Do what?
00:41Speak into the camera and say, for dessert we're making cookies.

01:55We've got to put it on a bit, we've got to put that on the stove for a bit.
02:00And then? I don't know, we put the cheese in here first. We put the cheese in there? Yeah.

02:06Who wants to do this? I'm actually, this is so warm.
02:11Go on, Isis.
02:13And it needs to go in the egg, doesn't it? We need to go in here.
02:16Can I sprinkle the salt? In here. Into the egg.

02:25And then we need some to obviously sprinkle on top.
02:33Leila, can you do your laces up for me please?
02:37Will you sit next to the fire?
02:40It might be a bit melted.
02:45Very unfortunate. I'll just look like I'm doing it.
