How big is the gender gap in high-tech jobs across Europe?

High-tech professionals represent over 5% of the EU's workforce, with more than 10 million people.

Gender representation in this sector, however, remains uneven,

with women accounting for less than a third of high-tech jobs in 2023,

a slight decrease from 2022.

There is only one place in Europe where women outnumber men.

It's the Hungarian region of Nyugat-Dunantul.

The next highest shares of female employment were in the Italian region of Marche

and in another Hungarian region, Eszak-Majarország.

The lowest rate of women across all the European regions was reported in Thessalia, Greece.

In 2023, Bavaria emerged as the European region with the most high-tech professionals in general,

Bolzano in Italy and the Greek island of Crete reported the lowest numbers in the EU, all below 5,000.
