00:00Looking for a job? These are the sectors with the fastest growing vacancies in the EU.
00:09Despite Europe's job market standing fairly resilient with a low unemployment rate,
00:14certain sectors are crying out for workers. New figures released by Eurostat show that between
00:202019, before the Covid pandemic, and 2023, manufacturing labourers recorded the largest
00:27increase in their job vacancy rate, up by 4.2%. This suggests that the sector had more difficulties
00:34recruiting staff during that time. The next biggest vacancy rates were seen in sales,
00:39marketing and development manager roles, sales workers, transport and storage labourers,
00:45and other clerical support workers. It's not the same story for every type of profession though.
00:51Several sectors' vacancy rates shrank during the same period. The biggest drops were seen among
00:56life science technicians, database and network professionals, and software developers and
01:02analysts. While this likely means that these fields had fewer difficulties recruiting staff,
01:07it doesn't mean that these occupations are shrinking, according to Eurostat. For example,
01:12even though database and network professionals saw a decrease in their job vacancy rate,
01:17it still remained well above the average across all occupations. In fact, the share of database
01:23and network employees actually went up by 0.2% between 2019 and 2023.
