Warren Moon Gives Patrick Mahomes a 'Slight Edge' Over Josh Allen In AFC Title Game

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs just know how to win ... and that’s why Warren Moon is giving the quarterback a "slight edge" over the Buffalo Bills this Sunday, even with Josh Allen playing lights out this season.

00:00It's going to come right down to the end like they all have, you know, the bills have had

00:06the Chiefs number during the regular season, but the Chiefs have had the Bills number during

00:10the playoffs.

00:11And it always comes down to a significant play in the fourth quarter some way, somehow.

00:16I was at the game when Josh Allen left 13 seconds on the clock and they're three points

00:22ahead and all of a sudden Patrick Mahomes takes him down the field, gets the field goal

00:26and they go into overtime and they never see the ball again.

00:29So these are the type of games that it's going to be when these two go against each other.

00:34I think Josh Allen is playing really good football.

00:36I think the key is going to be the team that takes best care of the football.

00:39The Chiefs have always been the team that did that in the playoffs.

00:43If the Buffalo Bills can really protect the ball the way they have the last two playoff

00:48games, I think they have a chance to win this football game because whoever has the ball

00:53doesn't create those short fields for the other team, doesn't give the ball to the other

00:58football team.

00:59I think it's going to be the one that has the best chance to win.

01:02Warren, Josh and Patrick are both going to be Hall of Famers.

01:06A lot of people have already said they think Patrick is the greatest quarterback of all

01:11Certainly, I think a lot of people would say that if they're able to complete this threepeat

01:16Josh Allen, they're likely going to be the MVP of the league this year.

01:23I know it's an impossible choice, but who has the quarterback advantage for this game

01:28Well, I think you have to go with Patrick Mahomes just because of his history.

01:31I mean, this is a guy who has been to seven straight AFC championship games since he started.

01:37He's been in this game.

01:38You know, he lost to Brady and he lost to Burrow, otherwise, it would be five Super

01:43Bowls.

01:44If he goes this year, it would be five Super Bowls and he's got, what, three already now

01:49in four years.

01:50So, you know, he's got the advantage.

01:52He's playing at home.

01:53He's got the crowd behind him.

01:55This is a team that just knows how to win.

01:58They know how to find ways to win.

01:59They've done it the whole season long, so they're battle-tested.

02:02They have the callus from playing in tough football games.

02:05So I don't think it'll be anything different for them if this game goes right down to the

02:09end because most of their games have gone that way this year.

02:12So I'd have to give Patrick a slight edge, but the Bills are playing so good right now.

02:19Josh Allen is playing out of his mind.

02:21He's taking care of the football, something that he hasn't always done in the past.

02:24And I think that's the difference in his game this year.

02:27He's spreading the ball around a lot of different people, not feeling like he has to be Superman

02:31every time he has the ball.

02:33And I think that's why they've had so much success.

02:35Warren, how don't the Bills convince themselves that something is not going to break right

02:44Just like you said, with 13 seconds left, and it looked like finally the Bills had won.

02:49They were advancing and we know what happened.

02:51I mean, is that in the back of their heads?

02:55I mean, do they feel like no matter how well we play, something is just not going to go

02:58right for us and we're going to lose?

03:01How do they guard against that, you know, thinking like that before this game?

03:05Well, you hope they have a different mindset coming into this one just because of the way

03:08they've played this year.

03:10They played a different brand of football, like it hasn't been all Josh Allen and you

03:14guys come follow me.

03:15It's been a whole team effort.

03:17Their defense has played well.

03:18They've created turnovers.

03:19They do come into this game a little banged up on defense.

03:22They've got some guys that they're not going to have on that side of the ball.

03:25That kind of concerns me a little bit.

03:27But I think coming in, they feel like this is a different team than what we had last

03:30year.

03:31There's a lot of confidence with them, especially the way they beat the Ravens last week.

03:35A lot of people thought the Ravens would even beat them, even though they were playing at

03:39home, but they handled them.

03:41So I think that game gave them a tremendous amount of confidence.

03:44And now they feel like they can go into Arrowhead and win this football game because they know

03:48the last time they played the Chiefs, which was this regular season, they beat the Chiefs.

03:52So they have that in their mind as well.

03:56Before we move on to the NFC side of things and take a break, what's the gut tell you?

04:04I'm still going to Chiefs.

04:05I think like something like 27-24, I really think the Chiefs will find a way to win this

04:10football game, but it'll be a close one.
