Now things have been announced officially and we get a little extra detail into how things are going to be working for the PFL tournament this
00:07
year
00:08
When they talked about all that in their press release this last week
00:12
So let's get right into it and talk about what we can expect for the World Tournament
00:16
2025 for the PFL it's gonna start in April. Now, of course, we're having cards before then
00:22
We're having a card this weekend for them. We'll talk about that coming up next but you know
00:25
This is gonna start in April. You're gonna have the first rounds of that the 3rd the 11th and the 18th
00:32
Then you're gonna have semi-finals in June the 12th the 20th and the 27th
00:37
Finals in August on the 1st the 15th and the 21st
00:40
So to be champ now you have to fight three times in five months a little less
00:45
Than you had to before for the PFL where they had the regular season then you had the playoffs now
00:50
This is just straight eight fighter tournaments with eight weight classes going to be involved
00:54
We'll talk about that in just a second
00:55
But like we said eight fighters two alternates as we talked about last week
00:59
and it's just gonna be going kind of a consecutive weeks there not to give anybody too much of an advantage for rest and recovery and
01:05
April June August
01:07
It's gonna be the three
01:09
Times you're gonna see this fight break down for all these tournaments in these eight-way classes
01:15
Which are gonna be as announced heavyweight for the men light heavyweight
01:19
middleweight
01:20
featherweight
01:21
Welterweight and lightweight phantom weight and then women's flyweight. So basically every man's
01:28
Weight class there and then the women's flyweight the 125 errs that we've seen a lot of before
01:33
So this is going to be an interesting situation there a lot of fighters gonna be involved 64 and all single elimination
01:39
You lose you're out. No getting, you know, two or three fights for the point system
01:44
This is just get in there you get who you get and you better make sure you get the win
01:48
So you can move on and also another big change that we talked about
01:53
Elbows will be allowed all the time now when they had the regular season before when they had the playoffs
01:59
It was that you could not do elbows until you got to the finals because of course with all those fights in one
02:05
You know calendar year
02:06
The last thing you want is someone getting cut that keeps them out of competition even if they win
02:11
So now it doesn't matter you get cut can't fight you're out
02:16
You know
02:16
We throw in one of the alternates because it is single elimination
02:20
Elbows allowed throughout every fight is a regular fight three rounds of five minutes normal typical
02:25
First round and semis and then of course the finals will be five minutes for titles
02:29
So it is going to be you know, interesting to see how that is incorporated by some of these fighters and you know
02:34
A lot of them obviously practice this throughout their training
02:37
So now you know a little bit of a hindrance for them
02:40
Sometimes I'm sure to make sure they don't do that in the middle of a fight or you know fighters getting penalized for throwing things
02:45
You know, they are used to throwing and every other fight now
02:48
Everything's open
02:50
According to the you know, the regular rules of MMA, so it's gonna be wide open regular fights the whole time throughout this bracket
