00:00Former Chief Justice Sereno is being condemned by several groups who are leading the LISAY project
00:06because of the spread of fake news related to the Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy Act of 2023.
00:14Sereno's answer is about his duty to give advice to the parents.
00:18Maki Pulido has the following to say.
00:23In 2018, the National Economic Development Authority declared
00:27a national and social emergency to increase the number of teen pregnancies.
00:32In that year, 2,250 children aged 10 to 14 years old got pregnant.
00:38By 2023, this number will reach 3,343.
00:44It has tripled in the last 16 years, the incidence of adolescent pregnancy.
00:51And in 2023, it now includes a 9-year-old.
00:55Most pregnant women are far older than men and the number of cases of adultery is limited.
01:019 to 16-year-old girls have a risk for rape which is five times higher than all women and girls.
01:10Those below the age of 15 have a much higher rate of maternal morbidity and mortality.
01:15They die and become pregnant compared with older women.
01:20Some of the alleged reasons are a lack of proper education, information, and services.
01:25These are things that are far from the Senate Bill 1979 or Anti-Teen Pregnancy Bill.
01:31But when Project Dalisay's position on the bill went viral on social media,
01:36seven senators withdrew their votes from the committee report.
01:40And President Marcos said that he will veto it if it passes
01:44because there are things to be taught to children who are not up to their age.
01:48This is something that the sponsor of the bill, Senator Rizal Ontiveros, was surprised by.
01:53That's why some groups are condemning former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno
01:58who is leading Project Dalisay in spreading fake news.
02:03Project Dalisay, you are very irresponsible.
02:06It's in your hands if next year, the number of adolescent pregnancies in our country will increase.
02:14Former Chief Justice Sereno did not directly respond to this.
02:17But she said that her duty is to inform parents of the dangers of Comprehensive Sexuality Education
02:23in the Senate Bill 1979.
02:25It should be stopped because it is against the law and Filipino values,
02:30especially when it comes to the protection of youth.
