What is the main goal of Autism Consciousness Week and why is it important?

Okay. We are thankful to the former President Fidel V. Ramos

that 29 years ago, he proclaimed the 3rd week of January

as National Autism Consciousness Week

where the lead government agencies

we have activities that promote action.

Action for everyone, the public,

to give Filipinos on the Autism Spectrum

to live with dignity, to have equal rights and access,

to function independently and to be productive,

It's fun because it's almost over.

I just have two things to mention

because there are a lot of activities throughout the week.

This is the one that started and ended.

When it started, we had a sensory-friendly movie showing.

It was done in 10 malls, 10 cinemas,

Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao

in collaboration with 20 of the 106 chapters of ASP.

And it's great that it was done in a small accommodation.

The theater was not darkened.

The audio was lowered.

The kids could run, scream, laugh.

There was no noise.

Then we created an autism-friendly space.

You know, we cried when we saw the families

inside the cinema because it can be very challenging.
