00:00The Met Office has issued a red weather warning for tomorrow Friday the 24th of January across
00:05the central belt which includes Glasgow. Winds could reach 100mph so people are being warned
00:11to factor this into travel plans as driving conditions are expected to be very dangerous.
00:16The warning is in place for between 10am and 5pm with an amber warning that will carry on
00:21until Saturday morning. The First Minister said it is vital we will follow public safety guidance
00:27during this storm as we only reserve red warnings for the most severe weather which
00:32represents a danger to life. There is likely to be disruption with energy supplies and widespread
00:38damage on property and infrastructure. A number of councils across Scotland have already announced
00:44school closures and ScotRail has announced it is currently working to determine what action to
00:50take. The AA has urged drivers to pack essentials in the car if they need to travel in case of
00:56breakdowns and to allow for additional journey time.
