Londoners on TikTok and banning social media

We ask Londoners what they think of TikTok, and the banning controversy of the platform in the United States.

00:00My view of currently the way TikTok's been handled with the ban,

00:03I feel like it's dangerous to take away people's freedom of speech.

00:06I feel like the ban was for financial reasons against China,

00:11rather than concerns over any social media's impact.

00:17I think there's so much bad that comes from social media,

00:20especially TikTokers, there's just so much...

00:23Everything is on there in a kind of terrifying way,

00:26yet also there is amazing communities on TikTok.

00:31Yeah, I feel like social media is a force of nature in itself at the moment,

00:35and you get wealthy entrepreneurs or political figures

00:38using it as a platform to shift public perception.

00:42I would say that social media as a whole,

00:45obviously there's lots about that and mental health

00:47and the changing of how it's changed society and general culture.

00:52It's sort of a snowball effect.

00:54I don't think you can cancel it.

00:55I don't think you can hold back on those things.

00:58I think it's just about awareness.
