00:00Today is Blue Monday, what is said to be the most depressing Monday of the year.
00:03Back in 2005 Sky Travel published a paper suggesting the third Monday of each New
00:08Year is when happiness levels collectively drop. This is due to various factors including weather,
00:12debt, low motivation and that many of us have already failed in our New Year's resolutions.
00:17It is important to note that while this is based on psychological research, mental health and when
00:21and where it affects us, it's not a one size fits all and thus this concept is essentially a myth.
00:26However, if you are feeling a mental strain during this time of year, the NHS has issued
00:31some advice. Number one on the list is to connect with those around you. Change the idea to brew
00:36Monday and talk to friends, family or colleagues over a cup of tea. Another idea is to use the
00:41worry time strategy where if you do have a what if anxiety, set aside even just 15 minutes to
00:47manage it and gain clarity on the situation. Finally, don't put too much pressure on yourself.
00:52Exercise and meditation is good for mental health,
00:55but even just going on a walk and trying to be present in the situation.
