00:41He says materialism is contributing to the current state of the nation.
00:46Running after the almighty dollar, that is what is happening.
00:49We look at crime and really what is the root cause of that, right?
00:53And this question of greed, corruption, what is the root cause of that?
00:57It's greed, right, that everyone is running after the almighty dollar
01:00at the expense, right, of our own happiness.
01:04So while, yes, we may have been aspiring to higher standards of living,
01:09at the same time what has been happening, our quality of life has been decreasing.
01:15Meanwhile, former senator and executive member of NJAC Martin Alexander tells TV6
01:21there are large segments of society with little to no equity.
01:26He adds that hopelessness can contribute to crime.
01:30It is all a question of persons' values, their mental and spiritual state.
01:39When you have persons that are invited with hope,
01:45they have something to look forward to.
01:49When you have hopelessness, you end up with persons displaying deviant behavior.
