00:00We found that in 2024, the total ridership of passengers has increased by 24% compared to 2023.
00:17And the average ridership or average number of passengers using public transportation under the Rapid
00:27has increased to 1.18 million people per day compared to 955,000 in 2023 and 681,000 in 2022.
00:45So this is a relatively healthy increase and we are almost back to the pre-COVID level or the number before COVID in 2019.
00:58But the most important thing is what we want to see is from the perspective of MKBF.
01:05MKBF is a system where we have introduced since two years ago,
01:10Min Kilometre Before Failure,
01:12to see the amount of technical disturbances that are faced.
01:18We know that one of the problems that plagued Prasarana several years ago
01:24is the increase in train crashes in Lemba Klang.
01:30At the end of 2022, when I returned to be the Minister of Transport,
01:36the first place I went to was the LRT station before I returned to the Ministry of Transport.
01:42Because at that time, there were a lot of traffic accidents.
01:47It was almost two or three times a week.
01:50And many passengers complained at that time.
01:53It was at that time that we found that there were quite a lot of disturbances.
01:57Our hope is that by 2026, our MKBF is 1 million.
02:03What does 1 million mean?
02:05It means that we don't want any disturbances within 1 million kilometres.
02:14It means that when the train is running,
02:17up to 1 million kilometres, there is only one time of disturbance.
02:22Now, maybe there is a line of 200,000, there is a line of 400,000,
02:27on average, there is one time of disturbance.
02:31If our MKBF is higher,
02:33it means that within 1 million kilometres, there is only one time of disturbance.
02:37It means that the frequency of disturbances is very, very low.
02:40Maybe once or twice a year.
02:43It is a common thing in all rail operators around the world.
02:47So this is our goal, to reduce disturbances.
02:51And if we ask the experience of LRT and MRT passengers in Kuala Lumpur,
02:57I think most of them can feel that the disturbances have been reduced in a good way.
03:04This is what we hope.
03:06And indeed, this has been the focus of the Ministry of Transport together with Prasarana
03:11since two years ago.
03:28For example, Singapore and Thailand, or maybe Japan.
03:32And the second question is about the expansion of KLM line.
03:37Right now, the high ridership, is there any plan to expand the KLM line in the future?
03:44Our target for MKBF is 1 million.
03:47As mentioned, 1 million by next year, by 2026.
03:51Of course, Singapore took about 5 to 6 years to achieve that.
03:56Of course, previously.
03:57Right now, they are at 2 million, right?
04:00Singapore MKBF is 2 million right now.
04:04So of course, it is a big gap with us.
04:08But we are hoping that we can achieve 1 million by next year, by 2026.
04:14We started off, as you know, I mentioned, in terms of disruption in 2022,
04:19255 times disruption in 2022.
04:25But right now, we have managed to reduce it to only 71 last year.
04:30So in terms of MKBF, definitely we hope that we can achieve 1 million by 2026.
04:36And that is actually a very, very ambitious goal.
04:39Because in just a matter of 2 to 3 years, we turned around the situation.
04:47For KLM line, currently there is no plan yet in terms of expansion.
04:52Because it was already expanded previously.
04:55KJ line expanded previously.
04:58So far, right now, as far as I am concerned, there is no expansion plan.
05:02The only outstanding project right now for LRT is LRT Shah Alam to KLM.
05:10And that will be opening 3rd quarter this year.
05:133rd quarter.
