00:00Facing the full weight of anti-corruption investigators, as well as the constitutional
00:07court, Yoon Soo-yul pushed to get his arrest overturned.
00:12His lawyers tell the central court here in Seoul that the wrong court issued the warrant
00:18and was therefore invalid.
00:20It was a desperate bid for freedom, and one that ultimately failed.
00:25These rusted-on supporters gathered outside the city courthouse in Seoul, eager to make
00:30their voices heard.
00:31There's a strong feeling here Yoon Soo-yul has done nothing wrong and is the victim of
00:36a political witch-hunt, one perpetrated by communist sympathisers.
00:43I'm not a legal expert, but the media is too left-wing, with a lot of fake news.
00:49Through this martial law, we all became aware of what was really happening.
00:55I trust the investigators zero percent.
00:59Of course, there are plenty of others who find Yoon's tactics as nothing more than acts
01:03of desperation.
01:08Yoon Soo-yul broke all the rules.
01:10He'll bring down our society if he remains as president.
01:16It's very shameful that he's the president but has been acting in this way.
01:20That's why he was impeached and arrested.
01:22Yoon Soo-yul's unsuccessful legal challenge will simply allow investigators to keep him
01:27detained for longer.
01:29But his refusal to take part in the process, his refusal to answer questions, is only strengthening
01:36support among his base.
01:39And his time in detention is turning him, for his supporters at least, into a political
01:44martyr.
