Alexander not dwelling on the past at Bradford City

Bradford City manager Graham Alexander has made clear that he will not let past results affect Bradford City and their current good form. Daniel Wales reports.

00:08followed by progression in the EFL Trophy to the quarter-final stage has excited fans

00:13of the Bantams over what the rest of the season could bring at Valley Parade for Graham Alexander's

00:26Walsall presents further opportunities this month for Bradford to make their intentions

00:31clear this season. Having been beaten in the league two play-offs by Carlisle in 2023,

00:37the Bantams will want to assert some revenge on their opponents.

00:42As he met the media, Graham Alexander certainly made clear that past results would not have

00:47any impact on his side and added that current actions are all that matter in football.

00:54Like I've said it many times, any past history is not on our shoulders, it's not our concern.

01:02It's about creating new memories, creating new records or winning games. It's a competition

01:11every week. I don't like those little things that come into your mind that might push your

01:18pre-emptive mindset towards one way or the other, I will win this game because of something

01:22in the past or we'll lose this game because of something in the past. I'll dispel all that

01:27sort of thing, it's about the actions on the day. So we will stick to that sort of philosophy of

01:31working because there's so many different things that can go outside the game. You have to do a

01:37lot of good things on any given day to win a game of football and we have to make sure that we do

01:42that on Saturday. This will be encouraging for Bradford supporters who know that their team is

01:47very much capable of being successful this season with their focus very much on promotion back to

01:54League One. Bradford City were last in League One in 2019 when they were relegated to League Two

02:00having only won 11 games during the season. The season's following have been tough for fans of

02:06the Bantams with only one foray into the League Two playoffs during their time in England's fourth

02:12tier. Under Graham Alexander this season there have been some poor results but overall the

02:19Bantams have been a well-drilled side that have consistently picked up points to leave them within

02:24touching distance of making it into the playoff places which at present would be at the expense

02:30of Doncaster Rovers. Bradford have a game in hand over Doncaster who sit a place in two points above

02:37them meaning that there is certainly hope that the Bantams can overtake them over the next few

02:43matches. If and when that is accomplished staying in the playoff places will be the next task for

02:48Alexander's side who need to remain consistent and stable as a team to keep picking up regular points

02:55at both home and away.
