Salmon Season opens on the River Tay  Anglers gather on the banks of the River Tay at Meikleour by Kinklaven Bridge to celebrate the opening of Salmon Season, which runs from 15th January until 15th October.   Broadcaster Paul Murton opens the season by casting the first cast

00:07four big rivers in Scotland to open. So I'm hoping today might be more successful, I might have some

00:12more luck because I've been having some lessons. Claire gave me a few lessons last year, the year

00:17before, and Tom Brown, a redoubtable casting expert and supremo, gave me a lesson yesterday.

00:24But I have to admit I'm slightly nervous about casting because I'm certainly not an expert

00:28fisherman, much better poacher, but I'll give it my best shot. And tight lines, gentlemen.
