00:38you look at McCarthy's last two years with the Cowboys and his final two years with the Cowboys
00:45excuse me with the Packers within that you've got four losing seasons okay out of his 18 he only
00:51had five losing seasons out of 18 but you don't like the fact that it sort of ended poorly with
00:57him in Green Bay it kind of crashed and burned and then you saw what happened in Dallas now
01:02the thing with McCarthy was you know having him be a lame duck coach letting his contract run out it's
01:08just bizarre letting him to go in the last year was contract not extending it's typically not done
01:12but it is hard to win in Dallas guys I know you could say what you want more winning than losing in
01:17Dallas for him but I think Joe what you're talking about what the fans are talking about that it's
01:22clear in social media you won't be inspired by a coach someone who's okay sure he won a Super Bowl
01:28but somebody's probably younger uh I'm a little I am I will tell you that the belief around the league
01:35was if they're willing to wait Chris Shula probably could have gotten that second interview and gotten
01:40the job in person but they didn't want to wait I don't know why they wouldn't wait for Chris Shula who
01:45was kind of first up that as I told you guys at the time this is a guy that they did research on
01:51they really liked but I this is not kind of Steeler like in terms of being a little bit more
01:59patient I'm a little surprised I didn't write for Chris Shula or Clint Kubiak or somebody like that
02:04now Kubiak by the way is a fascinating name he's brilliant but the thing with him guys is he's the

02:16was the knock on Kellen Moore who's now the Saints head coach that's going to be a key for for Clint
02:21Kubiak whether it's this cycle or in a future cycle how well he comes off in interviews Cap I just want

02:33two years in Dallas were not winning seasons and this isn't like a ready-for-made team isn't that
02:40another concern like that McCarthy's at the end of his career and there's there needs to be a major
02:47rebuild with younger talent Tomlin got rid of some of the younger guys including George Pickens is that
02:53a concern for this organization yeah Tom just for the record Tom didn't have personnel control that
02:59that's Omar Khan the general manager but Tom also has a say in it so look McCarthy is 62 years old
03:06it's not like he's 70 you know Belichick's in his 70s and clearly not the same coach he once was with
03:11New England which is probably why Bill's not back and you know what happened with the quarterback
03:15situation in New England but when you look at the situation with Pittsburgh it's they don't look at
03:20it as a rebuild they look at retooling they need help opposite a Metcalf at receiver there's no question
03:27about that something happened to their the back end of their defense last season I'm told where the
03:31communication was terrible you should know Joe it was Tomlin's defensive scheme that they've been
03:36running for many years and it it they had real problems on the back end so I they don't from
03:42talking to Steelers they don't think it's they rebuild at all they don't think it's close to it
03:46there's certain areas where they need to be better uh number two receiver it was a major problem this
03:52season there's no question about it a little bit on their offensive line but defensively they think
03:57they're there they really do they think they're there they could use probably another corner because
04:01you remember they cut Darius Slay but no they think they think they're still a good football team
