00:00YouTube's former golden boy David Dobrik is back after a lengthy hiatus, and this time
00:16he's jacked, but with a handful of serious controversies under his belt, including an
00:20incident where he nearly killed one of his friends with a crane.
00:26Could we really be accepting him back with such open arms?
00:29Before leaving YouTube in 2022, David Dobrik was one of the most well-loved vloggers in
00:33the history of the platform.
00:34Dobrik was known for his lively, action-packed vlogs full of laughs, flashy editing, celebrity
00:39cameos, giveaways, and stunts.
00:40At the height of his career, David had a television show, a podcast, an app, and all the sway
00:45he needed to do just about anything he wanted.
00:47Then in 2021, one of the vlog squad's members, Dirty Dom, was accused of assault stemming
00:52from a 2018 vlog.
00:54The video, which was filmed by David, showed Dom entering a bedroom at a party to hook
00:57up with a woman who was allegedly too drunk to consent.
01:01David apologized and cut ties with Dom, but he and the other members of his crew, the
01:05vlog squad, got some serious heat because of the incident.
01:07This includes member Jeff Wittek, who was famously grilled on an episode of the Frenemies
01:11podcast about whether or not he supplied underage girls with alcohol that night.
01:15While this incident alone wasn't enough for David to call it quits, it did get people
01:19to look back on a 2020 incident involving David, Jeff, and a crane.
01:23That year, the vlog squad filmed a video that saw Jeff grab onto a rope attached to an excavator
01:27in the water.
01:28David proceeded to swing the arm of the crane around in circles as Jeff held on for dear
01:32life.
01:33It was all good until David slowed down the crane, causing Jeff to smash into the machine.
01:37The incident nearly killed Jeff, and according to Jeff, caused permanent vision and mental
01:41problems.
01:42Since then, he's gone through some serious surgeries to fix the damage.
01:45He's also embroiled in a lawsuit with David.
01:47It's been speculated that these are the reasons David stopped posting content to YouTube in
01:52But David never left the internet entirely.
01:54Instead, he moved to Snapchat and started pursuing other business ventures like a pizza
01:58place called Doe Bricks, which Dave Portnoy gave a brutal 6.4 in his One Bite review.
02:03This move left some vlog squad members in the dark, including longtime friend Jason
02:07Nash, who became a bit of a laughingstock in recent years for his TikTok livestreams.
02:11Now, at the start of 2025, David is back with his first vlog in two years, and not a whole
02:16lot has changed.
02:17The vlog retains the same frantic style and comedy as his old content, and sees David
02:21and his friends traveling the world and having fun.
02:23He also shows off his new abs to all of his friends, which has garnered a variety of responses
02:28online.
02:29One Twitter user wrote,
02:30David Dobrik look like he the first head transplant survivor
02:32Another wrote,
02:33Jack's David Dobrik is so scary, get it off my screen
02:35While many are happy to see David back on YouTube, his critics aren't too pleased.
02:39Trisha Paytas, an outspoken critic of David, tweeted,
02:42David Dobrik returning to YouTube, doing the same thing he was doing in 2019.
02:46What could possibly go wrong?
02:48The vlog suggests that we are likely to see a lot more of David in 2025, including a revival
02:52of his podcast, Views, with co-host Jason Nash.
02:54At least Jason can stop going live on TikTok now.
