00:00VidCon is underway and fans recently walked out of a Talk Tua live podcast taping
00:05after guest Whitney Cummings dropped lewd comments and slurs.
00:09It's the latest controversy for Hayley Welch, better known as the Hawk Tua girl,
00:13who shot to fame in 2024 after a viral street interview made her the face of one of the year's
00:19most quoted memes.
00:24But her quick rise to fame came with a hard downfall in December 2024.
00:28Just months after her famous interview, Welch launched her own cryptocurrency, Hawk,
00:34which quickly tanked, leaving online investors out millions.
00:38Following intense backlash, she stepped away from the spotlight,
00:41later resurfacing in a leaked interview with banks where she expressed regret over the incident.
00:46Since then, Welch has slowly re-entered the digital scene, relaunching her podcast Talk Tua,
00:51appearing in TikToks, and even landing a brief cameo on Hulu's Chad Powers.
00:56But her latest appearance at VidCon 2025 is once again raising eyebrows.
01:02This week, VidCon announced Welch would record Talk Tua live with co-host and longtime friend
01:07Chelsea Bradford and guest comedian Whitney Cummings.
01:11Although attendees did not seem excited, as one Instagram user wrote,
01:15couldn't get anyone else who didn't scam millions out of their savings.
01:19And another stated,
01:20The taping was held Thursday in Spotify's packed podcast theater,
01:26with fans chanting Hawk Tua as the host took the stage.
01:30And according to Mashable, Cummings ended up driving the show while Welch took a back seat
01:34and slipped into more of a guest role.
01:36But as Cummings pressed Welch on her viral rise,
01:39the crowd grew louder, prompting the comedian to repeatedly tell The Room to shut the F up.
01:44That, along with her raunchy jokes, reportedly killed the vibe, and people began leaving their seats.
01:50But the real tipping point came when Cummings, while ranting about her experience in Hollywood,
01:55used slurs against the little people.
01:57The offensive remarks sparked more walkouts and backlash online.
02:02Streamer Jack Manifold posted on X stating,
02:05Slurs dropped at Talk Tua live tonight, so disappointed, hashtag notmyhaley.
02:10Although it seems that post has since been deleted,
02:14and neither Welch nor Cummings have issued a public statement about the taping.
