For twenty minutes and thirty seconds the King of Soca Machel Montano had NPR Tiny Desk office in the palm of his hands.

01:00as for the first time, the genre was featured in a tiny desk concert
01:04with the back-to-back groovy and power soca hits from his wide-ranging repertoire
01:09accompanied by a live band.
01:11Montano kicked off the show with one of his hit songs, One Wine.

01:32Keeping the energy high, the soca artist transitioned seamlessly into fast wine and like a boss

02:33Montano shared the exciting news with his Instagram followers today, describing the moment as historic for soca music.

02:42Today we made history for the first time ever. Soca music has graced the iconic NPR Tiny Desk Siege,
02:49and I am filled with gratitude and an overwhelming sense of pride to represent our culture on this global platform.
02:55This isn't just my moment, it's our moment.
02:59A moment every soca lover, every Caribbean soul, and every person who carries the rhythm of the islands in their heart.

03:19Montano now joins an esteemed list of artists who have performed in the small space,
