South Australians jostle with Gippslanders at Hamilton's mega yarding of 5000 Angus steers

The 5000-head yarding represented a good chunk of the 18,000 cattle to go under the hammer at Hamilton this week.

00:00Probably your top bin feeder weight cattle, 430 down to sort of 370 kilos, I would have said

00:05pretty much a blanket of 390 over 420, which was really strong. Then we had, once you dropped down

00:11sort of 370 through to 340, I would have said they were $4 to $4.30. They might have been a little

00:16bit easier than we thought, but then once you dropped below 430, 420, it skyrocketed again and

00:23was really strong and it went, I'd say, I think the top was $4.50 down to sort of 290 kilos. Then

00:29I think once you got a lot of calves, it actually probably got a bit cheaper, $2.50 and below,

00:33probably back to $4. Not a lot of people itching, but there was also not a lot of them here as well.

00:38A good sign for the week to come. Really good, yeah, magnificent.
