00:08Over the last decade, trade between the EU and China has generally increased.

00:14The EU remains China's top trade partner, while China is the EU's second largest.

00:20Germany, the Netherlands and Italy are the top importers and exporters of goods to and from

00:26China. More than half of goods the EU imports from China are mechanical appliances and

00:33electrical equipment. Less than 6% are vehicles and aircraft, followed by organic chemicals at

00:404.7% and clothing accessories at 4.5%. On the other end, more than a third of EU exports to

00:49China are mechanical appliances and electrical equipment. This is followed by vehicles and

00:55aircraft at 16.7%, pharmaceutical products at 9.3% and optical instruments at 7.2%.

01:05In late 2024, the EU imposed duties on Chinese electric vehicles after determining that

01:12state subsidies allowed Chinese manufacturers to undercut European prices. In retaliation,

01:19China initiated an anti-dumping investigation into EU diary products

01:24potentially leading to tariffs on imports such as cheese and milk.
