Agora at the regional semi finals of Best Kebab in Britain

00:00So my name is Berfin and I'm a part-time waitress at Agora Restaurant and I'm also my dad's daughter.

00:07Hello, my name is Yilmaz, I'm owner of the restaurant and also I head chef on the restaurant since we are opening.

00:15My name is Dilan and I am the manager and a partner with my dad in the business which is Agora Restaurant.

00:20I was running the takeaway in the Portsmouth 23 years ago, before 23 years ago

00:27and I noticed it's not any like the proper restaurant due to proper Turkish food in this city

00:35and I think I have to make me to open the restaurant in the Portsmouth

00:42and since there I didn't try to do my best to do my good quality food and fresh food and serve it up.

00:54Last week I heard we got nominated for the British Kebab Awards

01:02and yeah that was really it's a massive honor for us isn't it to be nominated in the category of the best regional restaurant

01:10and that's it puts so much pride to our name as a family to be nominated by our amazing customers

01:16and just be recognized for all our hard work.

01:18You are actually, I'm very proud of my team, everyone, my wife and unfortunately she couldn't be here today.

01:25Very grateful team and everyone do the best for themselves that's why we did get this award.

01:31Thank you very much for who's decided to us make this nice feelings nice to us.

01:38Yeah I think all of us we take a lot of pride in everything that we do.

01:42I think I've been working here since I was 16 years old so it's been 12 years

01:46and continuously like my dad my mom they're improving the dishes making sure that everything's fresh for our customers

01:53and we're always putting so much effort and so much love into everything that we do here

01:57and I think that reflects in the food and the service that's given to our customers.

02:01So that's why like you said a lot of our customers are regular they always come back just for that family kind of environment.

02:07That's why we're so us and the team are just so thankful to be nominated for best regional restaurant

02:12because we think it's something that we've worked really hard for as a family.

02:16Definitely and I think the relationship we've built with our customers over the years is what's made us get to this position.

02:22So at the end of the day we are so grateful and thankful for them because without them always coming back

02:27and appreciating our hard work with the food the service.

02:31To be chosen as the regional restaurant overall for everything that we entail is an amazing achievement

02:37and as you can see on the list as well there's so many big amazing restaurants which are in the same category

02:42so to be chosen to be in the semi-final is a major achievement for us and we're so grateful.

02:48So even being in this position we're just so proud.

02:51Yeah it's brilliant and the way you can vote for us I guess.

02:56What we'll do is I think we're going to put we'll put some QR codes around the restaurant

03:00so our customers that are here could essentially scan the QR code and vote for us if they want to.

03:07Yeah we'll share it on social media so they can follow a link on our pages

03:10and they can go and vote directly for Aurora which is great so they leave their name, their email

03:14and also a little message on why they've chosen us which is really nice as well.

03:21For me as I said before when I do some job I want to do my best.

03:29When I do my best and I notice that my customers notice that that makes me more motivated for the future.

03:39I promise our customers I will do much more better work on the past

03:45before saying thank you very much on the end but they decided for us to be in the restaurant.

03:50Yeah it definitely just pushes us to want to be better.
