Who is Austria’s Freedom Party and are they about to take power?

Austria is on the brink of being led by a coalition headed by the far-right Freedom Party after the collapse of Chancellor Karl Nehammer’s government. CGTN’s Johannes Pleschberger explains who the Freedom Party are.

00:08Freedom Party won Austria's general election but back then the president

00:12didn't want that party to govern. So three other parties had coalition talks

00:16which failed. The chancellor resigned and now the president lets the Freedom Party

00:21form a coalition. Who is the Freedom Party? They are similar to Giorgia Malone

00:25in Italy and Marine Le Pen in France. They want to strengthen Austria's

00:29national identity. They are against migration and they are critical towards

00:34the European Union. So what happens next? It's been more than three months since

00:37Austria's election so the voters are quite impatient. The Freedom Party

00:40doesn't have much time to form a government so many expect that very soon

00:43Austria will have a chancellor who many describe as far-right.
