00:03Stripes over economic policy dealt the final blow to the coalition of the SPD, FDP, and Greens.

00:10On November 6th, Chancellor Schultz fired Finance Minister Lindner, ending the Traffic Light coalition.

00:15Chancellor Schultz, from the Social Democratic Party, wanted to lift the debt ceiling, a

00:19constitutional requirement which obliges budget deficits to be capped, in order to fund Ukraine's war efforts.

00:26Lindner, from the liberal FDP, refused.

00:29The fallout was swift.

00:30All but one FDP minister left, sparking calls for immediate elections.

00:35Left-wing opposition blasted the government for prioritizing military over domestic needs.

00:40Now, a minority government of SPD and Greens will govern until new elections.

00:44But opposition parties demand clarity, and fast.
